Why doesn't ##########@vtext.com work anymore?

I used to be able to send text from my email to my phone by entering the phonenumber@vtext.com.
But not anymore. According to Verizon's vtext.com page, you should be able to do this:
Text to mobile phone from E-mail, send and receive text messages from any email address in the world by addressing the email to your 10 digit mobile number, number@vtext.com, or your customnickname@vtext.com.

I haven't had any issues doing this; are you getting an error message, they just don't go through, what?

You haven't added a block to your line regarding texting from the web, have you? That's the only thing I can think of. I just tried it since it had been awhile since I'd sent one, and I had no trouble sending a text to myself from my e-mail.

I'm not sure how you would block it. If I knew how, I'd check. Thanks.

If you don't know how to check about the block, then I doubt that you've set it up. Here's how, if you need it:
log into your on-line MyVerizon account
click on the blue More Actions (under I Want To)
click on the blue Block Internet Spam (under Safety & Security)
at the top of the page, choose line/phone, if applicable
at the bottom of the page, ensure that both check boxes are unchecked under Message Blocking Preferences

They are not checked. Guess I'll go to the store later.

Good luck. The only other thing I can think of is if you're sending photo texts; if so, then you need to use vzwpix.com rather than vtext.com

It works if I send a picture to vzwpix.com, but not vtext.com.

I may be misunderstanding you ... you send a picture message to vzwpix.com and it goes through? Wahoo, it's working as it should!
If you send a picture message to vtext.com, it doesn't go through? Well, it's not supposed to ... you can't send picture messages to vtext.com
Or are you saying that you still cannot send a text message (with no attachments) to vtext.com?

then ... if it were me (and assuming that you have a text plan), I'd just send all texts to vzwpix.com and not worry about it

Hi tikibar1, I had the same issue AJ121 had. However, I was able to follow your instructions and now mine is now working. Thanks for posting these instructions.

AJ212,
Whoa! Text messages are very important, so lets get this resolved! Are you receiving any error messages? What device? Sometimes these messages are sent as attachments, try sending an email message to 2345678900@vzwpix.com. Try sending the email message with "1" for example 12345678900@vtext.com to see if the messages goes through. Keep me posted if either one wgorks please. Hope this helps!
Thanks,

Similar problem. I used to send pictures and tones to my cell phone using the @vzwpix.com account. Haven't sent anything in last 2 months or so. I just got a new iphone and I'm trying to send some photos to the phone. If I use the @vzwpix.com account (either with or without a leading "1") - nothing gets to the phone. If I send an email to VTEXT.COM account then text comes through but any attached file gets removed.

found the answer in other research. I have cellular data turned OFF so I use wifi. But you need it turned ON to get picture messages. I turned it on and all my "test" messages came through. Kind of unfortunate that picture messages require cellular data to be turned on - which in turn causes your apps to use that data instead of wi-fi.

I use Vtext often to communicate with kids. It still works with Verizon customers but now fails with non-Verizon customers - see below. Did Vtext stop working with phones on other carriers? You can use Gmail's SMS messaging as an alternative.
I get the following message:
Error: Invalid user address
Error message below:
550 - Requested action not taken: no such user here

Hi SandiR,
Vtext is an amazing feature! I use it always too! I just tested with a non-verizon user and I works perfectly. Please go to http://vtext.com and click the sign in button link.

I was just having trouble with vtext bouncing with a "permanent error". I am sending through earthlink's webmail. Some (accidental) experimentation showed me that sometimes when I copy and paste a message from MS Word, with rich text turned on in the earthlink message editor, I get this sort of bounce. I am not certain what the deciding factor is, but I can get the message to go through by sending with plain text instead of rich. Maybe text can't handle the formatting.

Vtext.com should be only plain text without formatting. Text with Formatting would have to be sent as MMS messages through the vzwpix.com address.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
