handcent question

i downloaded handcent just recently. when i select a new mesg. and then type in a contact name it pulls up the contacts numbers but has multiple copies of each number that the contact has at least 3 times. example...home home home, mobile mobile moble, work work work. or what ever i have listed number wise per contact. it just shows multiple.

I think that's going to be a Google contact issue rather than a handscent issue. Something to do with the way Google synced the contacts. That happened with my first Android phone about a year ago. I wound up deleting all of the phone's contacts, editing my Contacts in Google online, then re-sync' ing the phone and Google contacts.

It's because you have multiple contact points.  For example if I was on T-Mobile and used My T-Mobile  Backup.  I would have 1 for Google Contacts, 1 for My T-Mobile backup, and if I synced all my contacts from Twitter or Facebook I would have those as well(usually it's best to sync contacts already on your phone with those two). Also if you used Outlook and synced with it you'd have outlook contacts as well.

 That's correct the information Tidbits gave is correct. However you can get all of your contacts together. I have provided you with  steps below:

1. Go to your contacts

2. Click on contact

3. Click Menu

4. Once you click on Menu select JOIN

5. A list of contacts will appear that you can join with

Join is a new feature on android 2.2. In handcent's settings you can choose to only show mobile numbers, this will alleviate some of the unnecessary repetition.
