Google Earth has to be downloaded. However for some of us it cannot be found in the market. Not sure what the problem is. Pinch to zoom does not work on all web sites. Not sure how true but I read somewhere that it does not work if you are viewing the mobile version of a site.

I have honestly been appreciating your posts. Thanks.
When I tried to download - I received an error message.
I even went to Google Earth website and sent myself and text msg with the URL -- was the same thing and that failed too.
Bummer.
PS The error message is really past, but it's something to the effect of "Couldn't...Unexpected, blah, blah."

I didn't find Google Earth in the market either. I know it is available for the iTouch and even iPhone I believe. Google Maps is just as good as Google Earth. I mean you can pretty much see streets, houses...etc on google maps. You can zoom in & do everything that Google Earth does.

If I can't download Google Earth within the next 24 hours I will drop Verizon as soon as my current contract is up and never buy another Android phone. This is totally unacceptable. I have had it.

Logicman,
Don't forget to add that you want the software patched by next week to allow the battery to last at least 7 days average usage... Meaning 5 hours of browsing and 3 hours of talk time per day, right?

If you want Google Earth and cannot find it in the Market this seems to work on 2.1: Google Earth For 2.0.1 And Non-Rooted Users

logic man is correct. Google Earth must be downloaded separately... I'ts a HUGE (realtivly speaking) download, and Motorola isn't going to install that by default taking up a huge portion of your available program space...
Pinc to zoom only works on certain web sites, depending on the coding of the web site itself. Go to verizon.com in your browser - It is not mobile-aware, and your zoom should work..

According to the text found at the bottom of http://www.google.com/mobile/earth/ availability for Droid is coming soon. I figure that since the announcement was made, and it was found on the Android Market, that there were problems with the beta serious enough to warrant pulling it. That last is just speculation on my part.

I don't think anything has been pulled from the Market...
It shows up as the first result on a search of "earth" on my phone. It must be something specific to the Verizon 2.1 release.
I just downloaded and installed it, no problems, so it's not an issue of it still showing up for some reason and not actually available for download.
I'm guessing, just like the problems with some apps not being availabe on other updates and other phones, the new "ID" of the 2.1 Verizon release needs to be updated at the Android Market end before some of the apps will show.

Shows up now for me so something in the market got fixed/changed/reconfigured.
If you installed GE using a manual process but now want to install from the Market you need to uninstall the manually installed copy first. From home screen touch Menu->Settings->Applications->Manage applications->Earth->Uninstall.
