So I was thinking of upgrading my iphone 7 plus to maybe a iphone 13 or 15.
currently I’m on my father phone plan and he’s not interested in upgrading or changing his current plan (probably because it will end up costing him more money).
I still want to upgrade but I don’t want to accidentally change anything related to his plan, so I’m trying to figure out what are my options.
can I just take the sim card out of my phone and put it into a iphone 13?
Does that effect anything on his end?
Can i just put my old sim card into a newer iphone myself or do I have to bring it to version? (In which case i would also need his permission and for him to be there since he's the account holder)
His phone plan is pretty old, the newest iphone he has is i think an iphone 11. So I'm not sure if i just put my sim card into a newer iphone if it will effect anything or not.
I was wondering if anyone in the community could clarify how sim swapping works.

Yes, you can upgrade your iPhone 7 Plus to an iPhone 13 or 15 without affecting your father's phone plan. As long as the SIM card from your current phone is compatible with the new iPhone (usually a nano-SIM), you can simply insert it into the new device. This action should not impact your father's plan since the plan is associated with the SIM card and not the phone itself. The new phone should automatically connect to Verizon’s network, but if you face any issues, you might need to activate the new device through Verizon's website or app. While you can perform the SIM swap yourself, visiting a Verizon store is an option if you need assistance. Keep in mind that your father, as the account holder, may need to be present if any account changes are required. Overall, upgrading to a newer iPhone by swapping the SIM card should be straightforward and should not disrupt your father's current plan.
