Hello everyone, I have an iPhone 14 Plus that was bought in America, in Verizon, payment is made in installments monthly, someone in apple forum told me that the phone will not be unlocked for 60 days, is it true? I urgently need to insert a second esim into my smartphone. Someone here on the forum wrote that it is unlocked anyway, and I want to know for sure.

Makuadar, that's a great question. The phone does not need to be paid off in full and will still unlock if the device still has a Device Payment Plan balance.

So will it be unlocked automatically if it's not full paid off?

Verizon devices unlock after 60-days. They have to be activated on our service, before that unlock countdown begins. You can see our full unlock policy here: https://www.verizon.com/about/consumer-safety/device-unlocking-policy

I don't understand the unblocking policy site, so I want a clear and understandable answer. My phone was activated and purchased from Verizon. It will also be unlocked after 60 days, even if it is not full paid of yet?

It is always important to be able to make sure we are able to clarify this for you. In this case, all our phones are unlocked after 60 days. If the service is disconnected, and the phone is not paid off, the phone will be locked until the balance is paid off. Does this help clarify your inquiry?

Jesse - It seems you are the only person at Verizon who thinks this. I have been on multiple calls with multiple people, including Tier 2 support (or so they said). My iphone 14 was bought in March 2024 and is still on a payment plan. Verizon support says my phone is unlocked, but my settings show "SIM LOCKED" and I cannot activate an esim purchased from Orange for our upcoming trip to France. I even directed the tech support to Verizon's own Device Locking FAQs, which say that even phones on payment plans will be unlocked after 60 days, but they just said that was a mistake on the website and said sorry.
I agree the policy is unclear, but I have been a verizon customer for 25 years and it should not be this difficult to use a different eSim when travelling out of the country.

Thank you for this information. Has the device been active on the Verizon account since you purchased it? Have you had it replaced or repaired? ~Peter
