I just got my phone in the mail and was wondering how to i set it up and how long does it take to switch my number over

Porting a number can be anything from instantaneously (if a Verizon store employee is doing it for you and you're coming from another big carrier) to a couple of days if you're coming from a budget carrier. You might be able to do it yourself online, but I've seen quite a few horror stories where people's numbers have been lost in limbo if things go wrong. Your best bet is to go to a Verizon store and have someone take care of this for you.
You will need to have your account number from your current carrier and a valid transfer PIN to port.
