No Service / SOS ONLY

I am suddenly getting no reception at home and I can't make or receive calls. Phone says SOS only or switches to 1 bar but still won't allow me to make/receive calls. I've never had service issues this bad before. The lucky times I do get a call in, service gets cut off.

I was chatting with Verizon who told me I had to go in-store and get a new sim. When I went to the store, they took my sim and said the e-sim should work fine. I came back home and it still didn't work. They finally gave me a new sim and still NO LUCK. They told me the store could not help and that I should call technical support with another phone (as if I have another phone just laying around). They also said they couldn't give me credit since there are places the phone works. REALLY? Why am I paying for service I am not getting?

I need help to get this issue fixed.

My iPhone 13pro was doing this as well on and off every day. I’d just randomly go into sos mode all throughout the day. Took my phone into Verizon and they tried to give it an e sim but wasn’t successful so I had to take it to the Apple Store. Apple ended up finding a reason to charge me 99 bucks and gave me a “new” iPhone 13pro. I used Apple care but was out of warranty for me charge port. Never got an answer as to what it was.

I know that I would be frustrated if I started having service issues at home, pearly0207. This is where I use my device the most, like many others. It is important to note that due to the nature of the wireless signal, we cannot guarantee coverage indoors, even when service was working indoors previously. I am having the same issue on and off. I don’t understand what’s happening. I am literally at home and I’ve never had this issue. It’s very frustrating being a Verizon customer for over a decade and having service issues like this. I pay too much for this to be happening. I would also appreciate some assistance on this matter.

Why don’t you tell us how to fix it rather than having everyone send you a message

I have the same problem at work. Everyone with a Verizon phone at work has the same problem. People at work with AT&T and US Cellular do not have this issue. Verizon service is spotty at best. Many days us Verizon customers are on SOS no service for no apparent reason. I went to my local Verizon store to ask them what is up with the terrible service and they said it’s because my plan is Verizon prepaid and I don’t have premium service. They offered me a “free” trial of a new phone and a new “better” plan for a 30 day “free” trial. The new service was the same as the prepaid Version phone and the “free” trial cost me so far $175 and I just got another bill in the mail yesterday for an additional $142. I only kept the trial phone for one week because it wasn’t any better. That’s one very expensive so called “free” week of trial. Don’t fall for Verizon’s gimmick. Verizon is just terrible and their service is terrible. When I have service I have two bars of signal strength at best. I really want to switch cell phone providers but my husband won’t switch.

I had this same issue yesterday with my iPhone 14 Pro and iPad. The Verizon representative was going to replace my SIM cards. However, I told him it was hard to believe both SIMs were bad at the same time, it had to be something else. He reactivated my phone/ipad after which my phone/ipad had one bar but it still would not connect to the internet. He had me turn on WiFi calling so I can make and receive calls and is sending a technician to my area.

I am experiencing the same issue as cited in by others in this thread. Today, I started to see no service / SOS message on my iPhone 15 Pro. I can't receive or make calls nor connect to the Verizon cellular network. I've restarted my phone, switched back and forth from airplane mode, and the issue still persists. Can you please help?

Having the same issue as well and extremely frustrated by the runaround I am getting from Verizon. Phone stopped connecting to the network or will connect and then drop within 2 minutes. Started on December 30. It does not matter my location, it is happening everywhere I go. Been to a Verizon store 4 times over the last week and Verizon insists that it is my phone and NOT their network. Problem is I traded in my old phone and since they put you on 3 YEARS of payments, my options seem to pay it off (which would be over $600) and then trade it in for a new phone, which again would put me on another 3 YEAR plan or continue paying for a phone that will not work! Ready to just ditch Verizon and go with AT&T since many of my friends and colleagues are with them and they have never had any issues. Seems like Verizon is just out to make a buck and have no care whatsoever in helping their customers and their issues as evidenced by this thread.

I have had it. I can only contact u thru X. Phone is stuck in SOS. I DID THE SAME THING WENT TO STORE. WENT HOME AND STILL DOESN'T WORK. RUDE PEOPLE AT THE STORE. BUT YET U STILL BILL ME

I’m having the same issue in all 4 phones on our plan. Happens everywhere. Not worse or better in any particular place. Totally random. Then, I chat with tech support, she had me delete eSIM, now it’s STUCK in SOS mode! Other phones on plan - calls drop and going in and out of SOS. Did factory reset on my device and still stuck. Cant make any calls at all. . Software up to date.

Thanks. I live in 30328 and work in 30309. It’s happening frequently near my house and near my office. Very frustrating and not sure why it’s happening.

Honestly Verizon, this is truly disgraceful to see how many customers you have paying your highest price point and we are not getting the service we are paying for. This is a serious problem that is going on for months and other cell phone companies are not having the same issues. Your answer is to get a new phone when it all comes down to it. We are tired of companies slowing our service, our phones, etc just to keep the money coming in.
We hav had the same issue as all these other individuals here for months with our line going in and out of service… yet it seems there is no actual correction taking place, or help being given, just a run around between you and asurion, or you and the brand of the phone. It seems to be your service and not the phones, as it is happening to all brands and SIM cards are not the answer. I have been a loyal customer of Verizon for 20 plus years, but the writing is in the wall.

I think at the root of these issues, where there is a sudden downgrade of service, are due to Verizon cutting the bandwidth they lease (aka capacity) on the towers that deliver services. I have many friends who live in rural areas that have seen a drastic service degradation and have found that Verizon, through their own admission when pressed, has admitted to stopping service on towers to cut costs.

They can claim a wide coverage model but it’s still technically covered even if it’s to but one phone.

I would guess they have been throttling back the capacity as a direct correlation to the number of phones in a given area, starving signal until it gets so bad they start loosing customers en masse and hey, when is this going to happen to Verizon?

It’s sad too because people have let go their copper lines in favor of their cells and now there are so many folks that can’t even call 911 because they have no signal in their own homes.

I just started having this issue a few weeks ago. This is ridiculous as by the numerous threads, this is a known issue with Verizon and they are well aware of it. It’s not our iPhones, it’s their service. We have a huge business contract with them and if I continue to keep dropping calls and being switched to SOS, I’ll advise we leave Verizon altogether.

Fix the issue already. It’s not the sim as I only have eSIM on iPhone 14 pro
