I activated my new iphone 16 pro yesterday and it was working fine. Today the phone is stuck in sos mode and so are all of the other new phones on my account that were working yesterday. How do I get out of SOS mode?

I saw a news report that Verizon was having an issue with phones being stuck in sos. It said mostly the east coast, but we are in Oregon and have no service today. Texting was working a few minutes ago and now it doesn’t work. No way to call Verizon to report this without a phone!!

We recently switched rom T-Mobile to Verizon and had the numbers ported over. Everything was fine for a couple weeks, but now all phones are in SOS mode. We have been on hold forever to talk to a service rep.

It's a nationwide issue. Everyone on my plan is experiencing the same. I googled Verizon service issue and a bunch of national news articles came up.

Hey Verizon, a large number of threads have just suddenly appeared in the last 30 or so minutes as I write this post, all from iPhone users saying their iPhone is in SOS mode. Needs to be escalated to whatever team is in charge of network issues. My Android has service.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Hello, Bradlyn. Help is here! A few days ago, we did experience an outage. I see it has been a few days since you posted this and the outage has been resolved. Are you still experiencing issues? Please be sure to restart your phone with Wi-Fi to ensure the phone connects to the network as the device cannot connect if Wi-Fi is still on.

Have a total of 6 lines - 5 Apple and 1 Motorola, all of which are stuck in SOS mode. A week ago, we had only 1 iPhone stuck in SOS mode, and had to get a new eSIM. Now today, since mid morning, all have been in SOS mode.
I have tried to chat with Verizon, but am unable to. All we have is our cell phones, so am unable to actually call in and find out what is going on. I have been with Verizon for over 20 years, and this is very aggravating to me as this is my only means of communication. What if something happens to my youngest who is in school, or to my elderly mother who has issues with falling. No one has any way to contact me nor do I have a way to contact them. I’m very disappointed in Verizon right now.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to fix this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Return to service is slow and spotty. Northern CA is recovering. Verizon said nothing. Opaque as a brick wall on this issue. Customer service was so overwhelmed most customers could not get information on the outage.

This is not a great solution, but because of health issues in the household we have a mobile phone with service from a provider not associated with Verizon or their software or towers as a backup. The reason it's not a great solution is this is an extra cost. It's an android phone since all our other phones are Apple iPhones.

Oh, no! Dealing with tech issues can be overwhelming, especially when your stuck in SOS mode. Verizon is here to offer the support you need. Let's gather more details.
When did the issue start? What recent changes have you made? Who else is experiencing this issue? Aside from the SOS mode, any other problems?

I am also stuck in SOS mode but it appears to only be mine out of the four lines on my phone. I have tried to get into chat but no luck. It started about two hours ago and I am getting desperate to get back into service.

Hello, jacobcml. Help is here as you definitely deserve some answers and a resolution. We did, unfortunately, have an outage a few days ago. I see it has been a few days since you posted this. Are you still experiencing the 'SOS' message on the phone or is it all working as of now?
