Verizon sent letter stating they did a random credit. This is really strange since I already have 4 lines more than a year now. Why will they do a random credit check.

Hello, Majesty562, thanks for reaching out. I can understand how this message would cause concern. Can you provide additional details as to what the letter says? Does your credit report show a credit inquiry?

I literally just received a letter saying that Verizon did a soft inquiry on me to determine if I can bill things to my account. I never asked for this nor was I looking to add anything to my account. This is definitely against the law.

Khalifab16, a soft inquiry—also called a soft pull—allows a creditor to review your credit report and credit score to get a sense of how well you are managing your credit. It can provide them with an indication of how risky of a borrower you are. Soft inquiries have no effect on your credit score. Like many businesses, we include an external credit inquiry to properly assess your finance limits because Verizon is extending credit to you over a period of time to purchase a device.

I know what a soft inquiry is. One was done without my permission. I’m not looking to add anything to my bill. Doing anything with my credit without my consent is against the law.

I agree! One was done on me also, for no reason and without my permission. How is this not illegal??
