SIM not supported. Verizon Carrier Lock.

Hello, I am from Europe and I have received Iphone 12 from US as a gift. When I want to put in my European based SIM card in the phone rejects it 'cause the phone is locked to Verizon. I have contact with the original buyers and they say that this phone is fully paid off and should be unlocked, but it isn't. I tried calling and contacting verizon support via messaging, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I have contacted Verizon via messaging, but had no luck.

Sorry to hear your gift won't work. I've read about this a lot in the forums, and it seems to be some kind of glitch. Since you are able to contact the original owner, the original owner needs to work with Verizon on getting the phone unlocked. I hope they did not buy the phone from a third party retailer, because that causes other problems. If the purchase wasn't done through Verizon, then there is no record of the phone being bought in Verizon's system, and then sometimes the phone just...won't...unlock...ever.

Thank you for the response, it was bought trough Verizon's authorized retailer ( I got the card in the box). Hopefully we can resolve this issue.
