I think trick people are in control of my phone . I call legit numbers like 611 . I got an answer from an agent . He wanted to download an app to my phone called “call filter xl” they don’t have that I hung up. He also wanted to download that app on my phone on his end .

I also got a voice mail by Verizon the trick people pretended to be a Verizon agent saying they have a deal for me and they listed the Verizon close to my house and their phone number . I’m afraid to call that number or any Verizon because I think they are trying to trick me.

also I know Verizon doesn’t call you. I have a I phone 14 pro max what should I do? I am on the do not call list. I do have call filter pulse.

If you're calling Verizon using 611, it's going to a call center representing Verizon, so whatever troubleshooting the agent wanted to do (sometimes they do install an app as a part of the troubleshooting) is legitimate.  Verizon does have both a Call Filter and Call Filter Plus app to screen out junk calls.  However, no call filtering technology is going to be 100% foolproof.

As for the voicemail, don't know if that's legitimate or not; it is a common ploy by con artists to impersonate a well-known business or institution.  However, you can use the store locator map at the top of the forum page to look up the store in question and it will list the direct phone number of that store too in order to see if the call was legit.

Synthpop is correct in that by dialing 611 it will go to a call center representing our company, some of them may have foreign accents, that would not be out of the norm. When you say breached, what exactly do you mean? The Verizon Protect app will provide assistance from high risk wifi, websites and things of that nature, as well as provide you with a vpn for added security. We are happy to provide any assistance we can, let us know how we can help.

The thing is that the agent said call filter xl . That’s why I’m alarmed on it since there is no call filter xl

When you call, it does go to an overseas call center, so it's possible that person didn't already know you have the Call Filter Plus app in your account, and he might have also had his verbiage a little mixed up.  But in general, if you initiate a call with a business, it will go to someone representing that business.  It's when someone claiming to be a business cold calls you then that's fishy and you should contact the business using a known phone number to verify.

If your Verizon account has been compromised before, that's a pretty serious concern.  There's a Fraud Prevention team with Verizon, as well as an online claim form you can fill out to report it, but if it were me, I'd check all my credit reports, freeze my credit, and report the data breach to a site like IdentityTheft.gov as attempts to steal phone numbers are becoming increasingly common (it's a gateway to get into personal details).

It’s just how he said call filter xl I gave up on him because it sounded like a trick . Look, when I got tricked the tricker was asking me questions about my phone idk he was having me telling him all of my information on my phone. After that , I changed all my passwords . I feel like getting a Walmart phone . Because I’ve been to Verizon and how everyone is saying my phones not hacked  the guy went through my phone settings the hacker) . .the Verizon protect app did say my phone was breached 4 times (my number) .

We definitely want to make sure your phone is secure, it sounds like you have taken a lot of measures to ensure that as well. Currently is anything happening on the phone that makes you feel like it is being hacked?

Because when I called one of my banks it sounded like my tricker, I used a different number for my bank .
