constantly losing all bars all day long wherever I am for couple of months now in Denver

For the past couple of months, I have noticed that nearly every time  I pick up my iPhone, my Verizon signal shows no bars at all. I either flip to airplane mode for a minute or two and then back or else turn my phone off and on, and then I'll have full bars for some period of time, only to look at my phone again later and see zero bars again. Many, many times EVERY day. No matter where I am, whether I am in my house in the Denver suburbs, in my car, outside, or in a cafe or store.  I don't know for sure when things got this bad, but it's fairly recent that it's been such a constant problem. Anyone else experiencing this? I saw a discussion thread from early 2024 about this, but couldn't find any recent threads. My iPhone is relatively up to date (ios 18.4.1). The problem started before the 18.4 update, I believe. My phone is several years old now, but I am not in a financial position to afford a new phone, and IMO demanding your customers buy a new phone every other year just so they can use your phone service is a complete nonstarter.

Hey there, NOYFB2222, sorry to hear you're running into an issue with service dropping out! You mentioned this has been happening for the last couple of months. What model phone are you currently using? Do you recall any other changes just before this started? Would you be able to update your software and let us know if the issue persists?

My iPhone is an SE (the last of the SE models, not one of the early ones). I think the problem got bad after an iPhone update, but I'm not sure. It has been a problem through several updates dating back to at least an early 18.3 version, so I don't see how updating to 18.5  from 18.4.1 will make a difference, and I don't intend to update the ios until 18.5.1 comes out.

Gotcha, thanks for that info. With the software not being up to date than can affect a phone and how it functions. Aside from airplane mode and powering your phone off and on, have any other troubleshooting steps been completed?

If the problem persists, just go to the store and ask them to redo your eSIM again

Thanks for the tip! I will try that.

i had a similar issue with another carrier and they had to reprogram my eSIM to get consistent service.

Smartphones have a lifespan of a few years; if you can get a phone to work for more than 6 or maybe 7 years without issue, that's pretty exceptional.  I'd take the phone to a repair shop and see if they can troubleshoot it as my guess is there's some hardware issue.  While current generations of iPhone aren't cheap, Android phones come in all sorts of price ranges if it turns out you need to buy a new phone.

What is affordable is relative. As someone who has been unemployed a while and in danger of losing my house, no new phone is affordable.
