Hello,
I’ve been experiencing a strange recurring issue on my iPhone 14 Pro Max with Verizon service, and I’m hoping someone here (or a Verizon rep) can shed light on it or confirm if others are seeing the same thing.
The Problem:
- When someone calls me, the call often goes straight to voicemail.
- I get no ring and no missed call notification on my phone.
- If the caller then sends me a text message (which I receive instantly), and tries calling again shortly after I’ve received the text, the call goes through and rings normally.
- This happens with multiple people (saved contacts, family members) in different locations.
- Texts and data work fine the entire time — only inbound calls are affected until a text “wakes” the network connection.
Troubleshooting I’ve Already Tried:
- Checked that numbers are not blocked and Silence Unknown Callers is OFF.
- Disabled all Focus modes / Do Not Disturb.
- Tested with LTE only, 5G Auto, and 5G Off.
- Turned Wi-Fi Calling on and off.
- Reset Network Settings several times.
- Had Verizon reset/re-provision my line once.
- Issue still happens in multiple locations with strong signal.
My Thoughts:
It feels like my phone isn’t consistently registered for voice calls on the Verizon network until another event (like an incoming SMS) forces an update. From what I’ve read, this could be a network paging or registration delay issue.
Request:
Has anyone else had this exact behavior? If so, what was the fix?
Verizon reps — could this be escalated to Network Engineering to check my IMS/VoLTE provisioning, paging/registration status, and inbound call routing?
It’s frustrating because to the caller it looks like I’m ignoring them, when in reality the call never even reached my phone.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or confirm this issue.
