Why was I not told about losing channels but cost went up $10.00

I went to watch a channel Nat Geo Wild and was told that I was not subscribed to it. Why was I not told about losing this channel and it turns out 3 more also and then my bill goes up $10.00. Less channels and higher cost. I stay with Verizon since the only other choice in my area I don't care for. This is getting tiring losing channels but cost going up and up.
