I was wanting to know if VZW had any intentions in getting this device?

Correct, looks like it is heading for Sprint maybe.
Sprint runs on CDMA network, doubt it'll be getting the Blackberry Slider since it is a GSM phone.It looks like Slider will be going to AT&T on August 15. Full Story Here
