BB 9650 storage mode

I have a few questions: most deal with the 9650 since I updated to the most recent OS 6. I can't switch the storage mode to the media card/2 GB, so now it tells me the mass storage is full. How can I tell it to fill the card instead? I've gone through options/device/storage, no luck.

Also, the phone freezes more and more over the last few months. I also have to hard reset it by pulling the battery, getting old. I don't have a ton of 3rd party apps, and only 600 contacts. I get 20+ emails a day, and usually delete them each evening. I text alot but don't save them for more than 3-4 days either.

With the most recent issues with RIM, I am close to switching teams. I just can't force myself to type emails using the touch screen, ie. android or iphone. I use my smartphone for business, not music/pics/pleasure. I refuse to upgrade to the 9930 as friends have and they are sorry.

Any ideas?

As I recommended in another post, try Quick Pull to schedule or perform a battery pull.

As far as your storage, go to Options >> Device >> Storage >> and make sure Media Card support is checked.

I set options for each app separately - for instance, I turn the camera ON, then hit the option key (BB key) and choose Options, and there I can set defaults, including default storage for saved pics.

So, I go to options today, after reading your post and the storage is set to allow media card/checkbox present and checked. This was not available over the weekend, before I pulled the battery and updated my signal (*228).

I've been pulling the battery every day, for the last few months. It didn't seem to make a difference. We'll see how the voice coverage is today, during the drive home.

I've read on here that Quick pull is not a wise app to install. Thank you for the help thus far.

I went through a several month period of time where my new BB 9650 would reboot every couple of hours. This went on for 4 months. Here is what I did to troubleshoot the problem (may be the same thing the OP is going through):

May be a corrupt 3rd party app or setting

1. Backup with BB DM. Reload Verizon OS without any 3rd party apps. Also, do not restore any preferences, options or settings, just the important stuff like emails, SMS, calendar and address book.

Still rebooting/freezing

2. Copy all SD card files/folders to your laptop. Reformat the SD card and copy everything back.

3. May be a corrupt database. Create a free gmail account and add it to your BB. Go into your gmail setup on your BB and tell it to sync contacts and calendar. Once all your contacts and calendar are on the web version of gmail, turn off the sync on on your BB. Open DM and select Delete Data to delete all Calendar and Contact information. Once this is done, your address book and calendar should be empty. Next turn on the sync for both Contacts and Calendar in the gmail setup on your BB. This may take up to 30 minutes for everything to download. Once that is done, do a battery pull and *228.

You need to use gmail to restore your contacts and calendar because it seems that backing up and restoring with DM just puts the same corrupt database back on your BB. Go figure?!?

Step 3. is what finally fixed my 9650. It seems I had a corrupt calendar. Hope this helps.
