Blackberry Bold 9650. Traveling in Canada and it will not connect to the Rogers Network.

It has always worked in the past. This just started in the last month or so. I pulled the battery and rebooted. No help. Ran diagnostics and get the error "APN List is Empty" Followed the directions to Register on the network, under Advanced Options, Host Tables. It keys a message but never sends because it will not connect.

Any other ideas?

Resolved the issue.

The Rogers network has changed their roaming policy because they have begun to consolidate all of the smaller telecoms in Canada into their network. When connecting to the Rogers Network in Canada, your primary service provider supplies a code to their servers which tells them your roaming plan is active, in other words your primary will pay the bill to Rogers. If the proper code is returned, the the Rogers server will allow your phone top connect.

For some reason Verizon had dropped my International Calling Plan from my account or I never had one, so to the Rogers network I did not have a roaming plan and they would not let me connect.

Went on line and added an International Calling Plan to my account, the Pay as you Go Plan, then it started working immediately. Not sure why it has worked fine for the last 10 years but apparently something changed.

you need to contact Verizon global support to see if any issues but service is not guaranteed internationally.

Rogers has changed - that's what happened. It's getting harder and harder to get a carrier to recognize the old BIS plans for BlackBerry devices that still require it. Some carriers have discontinues support for BIS completely. While your 9650 may still be a serviceable workhorse, getting the connectivity you need will get more and more difficult every day, I'm sorry to say.
