I upgraded to the Blackberry Curve less than a year ago. Within that year, I have gone through 3 (THREE!!) Blackberry Curves. The first phone stopped working after about 3 months and they sent me a "refurbished" replacement. So I PAID for a new phone and was already using a used phone in 3 months. Well that phone overheated and the battery fried the phone about 3 months later. So in about 6 months, I was onto my third Blackberry Curve. It is now about 5 months later and my phone has stopped working again.
But here is the best part- after the phone turned off and I pulled the battery out 3 different times, I realized the phone was broken. So I had to wait the entire day to drive to a Verizon store to get ANOTHER phone. Magically, as I was driving to Verizon, the phone cuts on and is now working. I still went to Verizon, hoping they would be able to diagnose something so that I wouldn't need to go days without a working phone. I was told that since the phone is currently working (mind you- it was broken for 10 hours and had now been working for about 10 mins), there was nothing that could be done to help me. Instead, I was handed a PAMPHLET providing me with a number to call when (not if, but when) the phone broke down again, I could use this number to call and GET ANOTHER REFURBISHED PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said, "So I literally have to get a new refurbished phone every 3-4 months until I'm allowed an upgrade?" The Verizon store clerk said, "Yes, unless you want to pay for an upgrade."
Verizon has been NOTHING but a pain since I joined them. And this Blackberry phone is worth more trouble than it's worth. I have several friends who are also unfortunate Blackberry owners, and their phones are constantly breaking down and shutting off and the only thing Verizon has to offer is a refurbished phone.
I still don't understand how I paid for a new phone a year ago and was only able to use it for 3 months. Since then, I have been forced to use refurbished phones since. So why not just offer me a refurbished phone upfront, at a discounted price since you already know the Blackberry Curve sucks and is going to break down anyway?
Way to go Verizon!!! I can't wait until my contract is up with you so I can switch to a network that offers phones that work.

First off, Verizon does offer refurbished phones upfront. It's called the CPO program. Highly discounted refurbished phones.
Secondly, it's most likely an app that you keep downloading that is ruining your phone. Or an email with a virus or something attached. I've seen so many posts and have had many friends who go through phone after phone and say it keeps "breaking" when really it's an app they've downloaded that destroys them. Try deleting your apps and whatnot and seeing if it helps.

When you find a carrier that provides new phones for warranty replacements please let me know.
Have you ever replaced the battery? What sort of things are you doing with your phone?
Thousands of people have no issues with their blackberries and you have had 4 different devices and had issues on all of them? Sounds unlikely.
There really was no reason to go into a store, you could have called and gone through all the troubleshooting steps, but at the point the phone is on and not causing any problems how would you suggest to troubleshoot that problem?

My Tour may very well rival your Curve. I'm on my third one and am having problems with it. The first time it was a problem with scrolling. This is a known problem and it was replaced with a CPO. The second time it was a software issue and was replaced with a CPO. This time it's the recurring white screen of death and scroll problem. I'm not able to run any apps on it and constantly having to reset is getting old. When I talked to someone with Verizon about this problem they told me I was eligible for a yearly upgrade. I think after giving Verizon as much money as we do a month they would be a little more accomodating than that. I'm just fed up with it. So now I'm researching all the providers and am contemplating leaving Verizon. It's so aggravating when all they want is your money and don't care to help at all.

I have to agree with you on this!
I have gone through 4 of them now and finally they are sending me a different model, a bold, hopefully this will be better.
According to all the Verizon people i have talked to the overheating problem is very common on the curve.

Is it the curve 8530 by chance? My entire family is cancelling all of our verizon phones once our contact is up (ONE MORE YEAR cannot come soon enough). So basically I upgraded to that stupid phone last August. Little did I know that it would be the WORST PIECE OF SH*T i've ever had to deal with in my life!!!! My original phone was actually the best one i had, in perfect condition until the battery overheated one day. The verizon people said it was due to a bad software update that kills the battery so they sent me a refurbished curve. Of course they said they'd "overnight ship" but it didn't arrive for 3 days. Did i complain? NO. Now this "new" curve lasted maybe 2 months max, before the trackpad suddenly switched directions for absolutely no reason!!! So yet again I had to go deal with verizon store which is my worst nightmare because the customer service is so bad. They wasted like 2 hours of my time testing out the trackpad before they finally could conclude that YES it was backwards for no reason. SO they said they'd send me a new replacement and GUESS WHAT they send me the WRONG phone so i was without a phone for basically a week waiting for them to figure it out. THEN finally this new replacement came and literally i had it for 3 weeks when suddenly the charger stops working. First I take it in and the chick at the store tries to claim that i'll have to pay for a new replacement because there is this TINY scratch on the front CLEARLY having nothing to do with the phone's ability to charge!!! So I freaked out and left and sent my dad in later. He comes back and my phone is working perfectly and he said that they first tried to claim it was a pressure crack but then they switched the battery and found that it was working fine and the battery went bad. So i was like oh good at least i won't need to replace again... BUT THEN ONE WEEK LATER, i wake up and my phone's dead and won't charge AGAIN!!! So i take it back and try to explain that this happened last week blah blah and the guy at the store is SO rude and shows me that this tiny little prong in my phone charger port is bent, so that's why it won't charge. **bleep**? I've had this phone for THREE weeks and the charger can break when i've done NOTHING to damage it??!! ANyways i wanted to try another store so my dad and i go in and they basically confirm there's a chip in the charger and they claim that it's ALL my fault and it's physical damage and i'd have to pay $300 for a replacement. $300 for a f*cking refurbished Curve that has already broken on me THREE times???? IT's a joke. I'm sorry that this is so long but right now i'm using my FOUR YEAR OLD LG DARE that actually lasted me for 2 years with no problems. I just can't believe after being loyal Verizon customers and dealing with ALL the problems with my blackberry and their customer service that they would blame ME for breaking the charger when clearly everyone knows that refurbished phones are sketchy (GOOGLE IT, they all say that the charger ports are usually messed up!) And we WILL be cancelling our accounts as soon as our contracts are up, Verizon. I've also advised all of my friends and coworkers to NEVER sign up with VErizon due to the horrible service I've experienced. Hello AT&T!!! one more year and I will finally leave this horrible company!

ALSO, we spoke with the manager at one of the Verizon stores and as my dad is trying to explain his frustration this punk is SMIRKING at us and basically acting like we're crazy. I personally work for customer service and I know how it can be hard to deal with the public but Verizon takes it to a whole nother level. Like you CANNOT be smirking and making fun of your customers. I honestly wish there were some higher level management we could complain to but of course they are making millions and don't give a sh*t.
