Blackberry Storm 2 release date

I just noticed that the price of the blackberry storm dropped $100 over the weekend.

Is this a sign that the storm 2 will be released sooner than later this year?

I now noticed on the phonearena website that the storm 2 is slated for

release oct/nov 09. Would it be worth it to wait for this new release or

get the current storm now? I like the look of the Tour but am a bigger

fan of the touchscreen that the storm has. Any suggestions??

I'd wait until the Storm 2... and possibly wait to see what initial reviews are incase there are similar software issues like the Storm had.

Wait for #2!  The Storm 1 is a crapshoot on whether or not you'll get a good one at time of purchase.  I love mine and I got lucky I guess, but don't get stuck with old hardware when the new stuff is right around the corner?  They'll have had almost a year now to right some wrongs with the first one.  As always good BB maintenance practices are vital in keeping any BB running smoothly, some more than others and I really think this is where the big disconnect is with a lot of BB customers who don't do research or read up on how to use the phone properly.  "Smartphones" are different than "dumbphones" in that they run more like a computer than a cellphone and as such require shutting down of applications after use and soft resets on a daily/weekly basis to regain memory and performance.

"research or read up on how to use the phone properly "

This might tell you how to remove the battery so that it will work for more than a couple of hours :smileyhappy:

Seriously ?  Windows OS vs BlackBerry OS ?  yeah almost the same thing.

R you going to follow me to every thread?  By the way, you're just conceding my point, and thank you for that.  Win Mob and BB OS are very similar yes but we already knew that.........welcome to yesterday.:smileyindifferent:

Production is suppose to ramp up next month and Nov looks like a good date for release:smileywink:

BTW you can check out a  Storm 2"ODIN" being used on the frontpage of Crackberry.

I saw a video of the Storm 2, don't remember where exactly. But I think all the buttons on the bottom of screen (phone, blackberry, escape, end) will be touchscreen. I could have waited for the Storm 2??? My 2-year contract would have ended in early winter, but I qualified for annual upgrade, so I grabbed the Storm.:smileyhappy:

The storm 2 is essentially the Storm 1 just a bit smaller and lighter with an enhanced touchscreen. As far as memory and camera and OS , it is pretty much just what the Storm 1 should have been.

Other sources are saying the release date for Verizon customers will be 10/15 and include OS 5.0 which is suppose to be a significant upgrade. I'm looking forward to the phone because I believe Verizon will make the same mistake with the Storm 2 that it did with Storm, releasing a handset that had a significant amount of problems. Because of this, I think (hope?) the Storm 2 will be free of most headaches when it is released. Unless the reviews slam the Storm 2, I will use my upgrade to get one.

I personally think , and this is me, that the 5.0 OS is why it may not hit its Oct date period. They are trying to cram alot into the Storm 2 release OS and as of right now BBM 5.0 does not work with the 5.0 OS. So they will have to move really quickly to make Oct happen.

I am in my 30 days, expires 9/29 and so far no problems. The Storm 2  I am told will have none, if very little rebates, discounts etc? So I will try to make it 2 yrs and see how Storm 2 does. Most of  the accessories will not  fit the smaller case, like charging station.

How much stock should I place in the phonearena website?

It is saying that the storm 2 will be released on 9/29.

I wouldn't put too much stock in any blog site. They're rumor mongers, especially. The phone will get released when it gets released, you can't buy it until then. So just be patient.

I can assure you it's definitely NOT being released in September.

Boy this phone is really starting a buzz! :smileyvery-happy:

It's nice to see on here. I know I am holding off for it's release also and if the October/November release rumour's are true then all will be good.

Frankly, the rumour sites seem to know more than this one. That of course is nothing personal to anyone!

Some of the better ones appear to be crackberry and boy genius report along with blackberry os. These ones seem to get some sort of reliable information that some of the other ones referr to. Phone Arena is one of those that looks to these other sites for info.

It will be nice when we get an offical word from blackberry and here. Until then I'll keep using my 8830 and not waste an upgrade, it will either be a Tour or a Storm 2 for me, with the Storm 2 leading the way after all that I have seen on it.

I don't know it any has notcied or not but this thread has more hits than the Sticky- How to Update Your Blackberry!

At 16891 Hits as of TODAY this has caused more stir than any thread on this site.

I think Verizon has some major interest in the status of this phone!

So come on VZW give us a release date!!!!
