Blackberry Storm malfuntion maybe?

Okay I got my Storm last month and the past couple of days I've hardly used it execpt to text for maybe thirty mins and I charge it everynight! Though by 10 am its batteries down to half and its heating up where I can feel it through my cloths. Is there a malfuntion or is the battery just messed up? The only thing I can do really is turn it off. Any help?

The only time I remove my battery is when it freezes up for more than 10 mins. And I've ony had to do that a few times. My friend has a blackberry curve and he said his does the same thing, so maybe its the brand or something idk.

Do you have a lot of "third party" applications running in the background? It would cause battery draining and Blackberry "freezing up." Press Blackberry button (dots), and suppose to see 5 or 6 icons: Blackberry Messenger, Clock, Home,Browser,Phone, Messages.:smileywink:

Not exactly Doc, one needs to scroll down thru the list that opens when you push BB buton to "Switch Application" then it will show what is open. Then you click on those you want to close, push close in the list and continue until everything is closed that will close, there will be some that have to stay open. :smileyhappy:

Thanks for the info. I admit I don't have any "third party" applications running on my Storm, so I don't know that much. Thanks.:smileysurprised:

My Storm heats up after I've been on it for awhile.  I've had mine since they first were released.  The battery lasts awhile on mine so it looks like you  have a defective one.  I've heard many of my friends having 3 and 4 different Storms.  I close all of my open applications as they say and mine still freezes up where I have to take the battery out and put it back in.  I miss several calls as well because it freezes up a lot.  Not only is all of this stuff annoying but it gets really slow at times and you get lint caught under the screen because it isn't sealed around the screen.  They told me at the Verizon Store that there is nothing they can do about getting the lint out.  It makes picture viewing a pain and just looks horrible!!!

I hardly ever have any apps open though and it was just sitting in my pocket. Should I go in and see if the store I got it from will replace it? Or atleast send it in

Are the metal contacts on the battery and Storm free of corrosion, or moisture, etc.? It would cause overheating. Also, if you have the original battery, not generic battery, it must be defective. Try get new battery from Verizon.:smileywink:

Occasionally my Storm will nuke the battery and a simple "QUICKPULL" is all I need to solve the issues.  I think it's when one of the programs in the phone decides to do its own thing and just starts sappin the life out of it which of course runs it down much faster.

I would look at the blackberry forums.  Also in your literature there are tips to ensure you get longer battery life like make your screen not as bright, having the backlight come on sooner.  And like these guys have mentioned, make sure you dont have a ton of apps running in the background.  I know that for me, i get a good day or two out of my battery, unless im talking on the phone alot (i do more texting than anything) then forget it, phone usage flushes my battery down the toilet.
