When will Verizon start selling the Blackberry Style ?
I would love to know the answer to this myself. I thought Verizon would pick it up about a month after Sprint started selling it, and I've been scouring all the tech news sites daily, but I haven't read anything about Verizon getting the Style.
I understand your interest in upcoming device available with Verizon Wireless. I recommend signing up for email alerts so that you are one of the first to know what Verizon Wireless has coming out. https://email.vzwshop.com/servlet/formlink/f?NFOQU&SOURCEID=WEB_DGF_VZW_SUPPORTNAV
Apparently, Sprint has an "exclusive" deal with RIM for the Blackberry 9670. Can Verizon say anything about this? I do not want to be on a Verizon mailing list unless I am ONLY going to get information about new Blackberry devices that Verizon will support.
I have always owned "flip" or "clam" style phones and have been following the news on this phone since early last summer when it was thought to be an upcoming Verizon phone. Finally in October I was very disappointed to find that it was a Sprint "exclusive". Hopefully, the "exclusive" part is only temporary and Big Red can carry it very soon!
I'm glad you resurrected this thread, so I have others to commiserate with. I would be so happy to hear a Verizon Style announcement, way more excited than the iPhone announcement. I still have hope. I'll stay glued to the blogs and post if I hear anything, and I hope you do too.
My family and I are considering moving to Sprint to get the flip phone. I'm surprised also that Verizon hasn't reacted to the outpouring of requests for a flip style phone. Although I would prefer to stay with Verizon, the prices are fairly competitive at Sprint.
If any of you find out Verizon is getting the Blackberry Style please let us know! I am going to be the first in line (I will beat you all) to get the style! I can't wait! Honestly, I don't care how much it costs. I have always loved clam shells. In my line of work, I am always butt dialing with my blackberry - accidentally calling alot of people. Please Verizon GET THE FLIPPIN BLACKBERRY STYLE...♥
By the way - this weekend I purchased the Droid Pro hoping, just hoping, It would replace my blackberry. Folks, it didn't. I loved the phone. But the keyboard was too small plus I was always hitting the menu key row when typing. The phone also lagged alot. I returned it today. Back to my trusty beloved blackberry...♥
I hear ya, Theodora! I've tried other smartphone platforms too and they just didn't do it for me.
I'm also waiting for this phone. I don't see why there aren't more flip phones on verizon. I don't think there is a single flip android phone that verizon has.
Anyways, I heard from somewhere that this phone might come out for verizon by March.
Hey,
I saw that article on Crackberry earlier today. You know what that means...mayyyyyyybeee, if we cross our fingers, perhaps Verizon will get the Style.
Doc
I read the blog about the Alltel BB Style yesterday, too. I definitely think there is now some hope for it on Verizon since Alltel is apparently picking it up. At least that means there was not a totally exclusive agreement between RIM and Sprint on it. Also, I got a chance to spend some "quality" time with a friend's BB Style (he is on SPRINT) over the holidays, and I really could not find anything that I didn't like about it. He has had it since its SPRINT launch and he said that he would not swap it for any other phone out there.

The only problems with this suggestion is that you don't get any notifications. I signed up for it and never received notification for the iPhone debut.
Come on, Verizon...bring on the BB style, or ANY flip smartphone. This type of phone is a must for anyone in construction, or any trades!! Unfortunately, the trend has gone to ridiculously large touch screens, and away from what a smartphone SHOULD be...a PHONE, with additional capabilities like email, SMS, maps, and browsing when on the go. I don't need (or want) to watch utube all day or watch full length HD movies on my phone. I have a droid pro, and this phone is really good, but I can't (and won't) bring this phone to a jobsite, so it sits in my truck, and I'm left having to carry another flip phone with me to take calls. Bring on the Style, and my problems are solved. I can't be the only VZ customer that works in the trades and needs a rugged smartphone.
Hello all. I've been away from the forums for a very long time. I too want to add my name to the list of people who are seriously interested in this phone. While I understand that Sprint had some sort of exclusive on it when it was introduced but honestly that HAS to be over by now. I just wish Verizon would make a decision one way or the other as to what they are going to do with this device.
I seriously doubt the Style will be picked up by Verizon this late in it's life. With all the new blackberry phones rumored to be released later this summer (Montana - Bold Touch, Sedona - Next Gen Curve, Monaco - Full Touch Screen) I would not expect Verizon to bother with the Style.
We may find out more information next week (May 3-5) at the Blackberry World Conference in Orlando. We can only hope (never say never), I agree with others, the Style would be a good addition to the Verizon lineup for people that like flip type phones.
I tend to agree. I check often with phonearena.com and they continue to show it heading for Verizon but the clock seems to be running out. Everyone around me has the big boxy Androids and while they do everything, let's face it . . . carrying these things around is like carrying a brick (a brick that needs to be refueled more often than a '60's muscle car). No one seems to be making a truly compact (folding) Smart Phone and that is why I thought the Style was sufficiently different to warrant Verizon to have brought it in already. They're loving it over at Sprint for the same reasons. I just wish Verizon would say something one way or the other. Big Red sure can be frustrating at times huh? LOL!
