I have 2 computers at home, with very good internet, and a yahoo email account.
And my phone plan runs out late feb.
I like the look of the blackberry curve, 8530.
there is a sale Buy one get one free for $50.00.
I dont need internet, i dont need an email account, and all of that mumbo jumbo.
I learn from my friend that there is a mandatory fee ($30.00) in order to activate your blackberry, for the internet/email thingamajiger.
I was wanting to know if this fee can be passed over. Is there a way i dont have to pay this fee?
Thank you for any replies.

I dont need internet, i dont need an email account, and all of that mumbo jumbo. The $29.99 data plan for a Blackberry or any other smart phone VZW sells is mandatory. No way around it.
I learn from my friend that there is a mandatory fee ($30.00) in order to activate your blackberry, for the internet/email thingamajiger. The activation fee for a new line is $35, activation for secondary lines on a family share plan is $25. I understand that customers hate this fee. However, VZW and other cell carrier's have legitimate startup costs when adding new customers. This fee is to recoup these costs, not to gouge the customer.
I was wanting to know if this fee can be passed over. Is there a way i dont have to pay this fee? Most likely again you will have to pay this fee as a new customer. However, if your employer participates in VZW's Employee Discount plan, you may or may not have an activation fee, depending on how many total lines the company has activated with VZW.
