Can't figure out browsing

I am so frustrated I can't believe it.  I can't figure out how to browse the web on my blackberry storm 2.  I can enter a web address just fine.  But if I am on a website and type in information, how to I "enter" that information?  There is no "go" or "enter" key.  I can't believe that it isn't possible, but I can't figure out why I can't figure this out.  I read every manual I could find on the verizon site.

So I am clear, today I went to mapquest and typed in an address to map. How do I enter that address so it searches for it?  I just couldn't not figure out how.  Intuitively, you should be able to just tap the address and it would start the search but that didn't do it.

Please help.  I am miles from a Verizon store.

Martha, the device **bleep**.

You have to tap the box/field where you enter the data. It might take a couple of taps. Try also using the cursor arrow icon from the bottom of browser to make it easier to click inside the field. Once you've tapped the field, your keyboard layout screen will appear.

I must not be explaining this quite right.  I go to google.  I type in a search query.  I can do that just fine.  Now how do you execute the search?  Where is the enter command/key?  Tapping on the word "search" doesn't do it.

So, you can navigate to the Google web site on your Storm 2, correct? After you type in the search query in the text box, you tap on box titled "Search" right below the text box to execute your search.

Or, from the keyboard layout there is an icon on with an arrow that points down and to the left. If in Portrait mode, this icon is below the "#" key, in Qwerty keyboard mode, this icon is to the right of the "." key. This arrow key is like the Enter button on your PC keyboard.

OK, I am thinking that there is something wrong with my blackberry.  I have tapped the search key.  I have tapped the "enter" key.  Nothing ever happens.

Lucky me, I am miles away from a Verizon store, on a trip.

Once you get your address information entered you can also hit the menu button and try clicking on select.

I tried that.  I am having a hard time getting "select" to always select.  But then what?  Enter still doesn't work.

What do other people do?  Can someone go step by step how they would do a google search?

I also posted my question to the crackberry forum.  One poster suggested pulling the battery.  I did that and now I am fine.  I went to google, typed in a search, pressed enter and the search executed.  I also tried it by pressing "search" and that worked too.

Glad to hear that you got that solved, I was just reading your thread thinking the browser is probably jammed with commands and would need to be reset.  Keep in mind that just like on your PC you want to clear your history and cookies daily/ weekly depending on your usage so your web continues to run smooth and error free.

Concerning the comments that I had clogged my browser with commands and needed to clear the cache: Interesting possibility, but I am not sure that I think that is what happened.  Keep in mind I am a new user and could not browse.  There was very little that I had done on the internet to "clog" things up with commands.  The enter key never worked for me, from the first time I tried.

As to the point made that the brower cache needs frequent clearing, if one needs to clear their cache as often as every day to preserve functioning of the browser it should be stated in the manual or at least  have an automatic setting that clears the cach each time you close the browser.

Completely agree with you Martha.  I didn't mean to imply that you actually had full pages locked in your browser since you hadn't been able to browse.  But rather the commands themselves had locked up the browser.  Not sure if you have ever done this but I know I have, I get on the PC and start clicking through sites on the web and it will stop responding, if I wait a little while it "catches up" with my clicks and moves forward.  Well the same thing can happen on the browser.  You're probably right it was a glitch from the get go and removing the battery reset the error.

Clearing the browser, it might be already set up to automatically do this for you.  It's worth checking to make sure that function is turned on and set at a level that is best for you.  It is not a solid answer just a helpful suggestion that might keep your phone moving smooth.  You don't get as much memory in cell phones as you do in computers so it is a pretty common thing for data users to clear cookies and such as well as deleting text messages and keeping images and music on SD cards.

Martha, you push browser Icon, then on BB button push it and then scroll down to options, push that and then scroll down to cache operations and push that, then starting at the top with Clear history content cache, Pushed Content, and Cookie Cache all the clear buttons in the screen. One will ask if you want to delete and say yes, then immediately push the back, escape button next to the red one and it will clean your BB. This should be done on a daily basis.  You can also daily go into the Options icon and scroll down to security options, Advanced Security options, then Memory cleaning, then scroll down to Certificate search under Registered Cleaners and push the cert Serach then scroll one up to Clean now and let it do it's thing after pushing it. Then back your way out.

Enter key looks just like the one on your computer, "arrow pointing left" lower right side of keyboard.
