Can you turn email to Blackberry "off?"

I have the Blackberry 8330. It is hooked up to my work email, but I really don't need to receive the emails while I am AT work, only when working from home. Is there a way to turn the emails "off" when at work so I'm not inundated with the same emails I'm getting right in front of me at my desktop?

In the same vain, is there a way to clear out the entire inbox in one swoop instead of clicking on each message individually and deleting? This gets tedious when I know I have already seen all of the messages and no longer need them.

Thanks in advance,

Rachel

Rachel,

The only way I know to temporarily stop your phone from receiving emails is to stop your data reception.  To do this, go to 1. Options. 2. Mobile Network  3. Data Services and select Off.  This will stop you from receiving any email, MMS, PIN, or internet.  Your phone will still be able to send/receive calls and SMS text messages.  Hope this helps...

If you get your work emails then most likely your company uses the Blackberry Enterprise Solution (BES) so your emails can only be controlled by your administrator. So that's something you may want to ask him about.

For deleting your emails, if you scroll to the very top of your messages list and highlight the top bar that's the date you can hit your menu button then select "delete prior" and it will delete your entire inbox.

Thank you...the deleting worked perfectly.

As for the work email, it is not BES as it is being routed to my blackberry.net account. Does that make sense?

Ah, that makes sense. Configured with BIS there isn't a quick & easy way to stop your emails from coming. One way is to delete the service book entry for that particular email address, that will cause the emails to stop. Then after doing a battery pull the service book should be restored.

Oh my goodness!! alot of crazy info floating around on this thread. hit the Menu key>your email address folder>menu key>options>email reconciliation>wireless reconcile >off.

Your email will not push until you manually reconcile now.

Wireless reconciliation only works if you're on a BES. It doesn't apply to BIS users. Also, it only causes your accounts to sync up in terms of read, new and deleted. It has nothing to do with stopping the email from coming to the phone. Read this quick BB Geeks article here
