Has anyone else experienced poor reliability of the curve 8330 handset? I'm on my third one in about 2 months. Two failed within 6 days of being replaced. The phones lock up, turn off...they'll present the home screen but then not allow me to select any icons using the trackball or the keyboard (enter key)...it's a mess.
Verizon has replaced them, but just today i had an intermittent issue where i couldn't answer calls or even turn off the phone. I've pulled the batteries so many times now...
Has anyone else had their 8330 replaced? More than once?
my wife has had the same curve since day one and never had it replaced... (knock on wood).
The Curve 8330 has been one of the most reliable phones of any type I've ever owned! Had it since it came out for Verizon and never replaced it for a malfunction, only for damage and the replacement has been reliable too. It's been great! I still choose to use my Curve over my Tour sometimes.
Sorry that you're having trouble though, a bad batch of devices can happen. Keep your head up, you should get a working model eventually.
I ran over my Curve one morning. That was a sad, terrible day.
While i wait for FedEx to ship me yet another Curve (apparently ALL local verizon stores are out of Curves, i can only guess because they're constantly replacing other customers' handsets) I cannot express how frustrated i have become. Every handset i have had exhibits the same behavior - screen goes black, buttons/trackball are unresponsive, when i can sometimes get it to present the home screen by pulling the battery the keyboard doesn't work...i can use the trackball to navigate around the home screen, but cannot select anything (by either clicking the trackball or pressing enter)...
I thought maybe the phone was overheating, so i've resorted to keeping it on my desk out of my pocket. But it still happens, and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a connected device, doesn't it?
I have to wait for this next handset to fail before i am eligible for a different model, but the only other comparable phones are blackberrys...is there a way to get out of my contract penalty-free so that i can get a phone that actually works?
Yes if you are within the first 30 days you can cancel without penalty.
