Does anyone have the Verizon Blackberry 10.2.1 official update yet?
My phone says it has the "latest" software upgrade of 10.1.0.4189.
The Blackberry website says the upgrade is available to carriers.
Please help Verizon!
Hello MKEJamie,The Blackberry Q10 is a SUPER awesome device! With so many features & benefits, what's there not to love! I'm glad to see that you are passionate about software updates. While there isn't any official info on if/when an update will be available, a great way to stay in the know is to visit our news site. Here's a link so you can check it out. http://bit.ly/n5snpq Thank you...ArnettH_VZW Follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Hi,
Sometimes, if you reboot the phone, it might detect the update. You can also try connecting your device to your computer and using the Blackberry software to get the update. Another way would be via BlackBerry's website on a computer, with your device connected.
Doc
The 10.2.1 software update is available for ALL BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 devices. Follow my instructions above and it will be there. On a side note, if you are running a leaked 10.2 software version, you will have to uninstall by downgrading, then installing the official Verizon 10.2.1. Hope this helps.
Thanks Doc
I will try your options again. I don't have a leaked version downloaded.
When I originally tried your suggestion, both the phone and bblink said I
had the latest software. I'll try to get it right from the BlackBerry
website.
I'll let you know. Thanks!

Jamie. Did you ever get your Q10 software to update from Verizon? Doc said it was available for Q10 Feb 1 but I've read it will not be available til tomorrow Feb 4. Thanks.
Mifien/Doc
I was not able to get mine to update and I don't have a leak previously
downloaded.
Unless, I'm doing something wrong...but updating a phone seems to be pretty
straight forward.
Hopefully it is pushed out today.
How in gods name does verizon never had a straight forward answer. Everything is all over the net regarding this update. For a software update theirs a lot of running around the bush I feel. We want 10.2.1
Hey,
After researching other forums, it does seem the update should be rolled out for the Q10 today. Blackberry released the update a couple of weeks ago to carriers and the carriers determine how it will be released. According to the roadmap release, it should be today, so keep checking back.
I am also having a problem updating my Blackberry Q10 serviced by VZW. :smileysad:
I was informed by a developer that wanted me try his latest app it required the 10.2 upgrade. That was Saturday 2.1.14. Since then I have been looking for the 10.2 update for my device, which states I already have the latest update: 10.1.0.4189.
Today I decided to do a complete wipe, after fully backing up of course, when Blackberry Link also stated I had the latest update. After a successful wipe and reinstall to Factory settings the device kept updating. Latest, according to the device? 10.1.0.4189.
Then I attached it to my desktop and connected to Blackberry Link. Search for latest update: result? I already have the latest. 10.1.0.4189!
How can I get the latest official update installed on my device? I tried everything that is in the book, so to speak. I would hate to go draconian and go to a site such as Crackberry, as good as that site is, to get an update the provider apparently has available but the applicability, and thus its download and installation, is not recognized for my device either over the VzW network or through Blackberry Link.
Open to all suggestions.
Thank you, in advance,
Don L
I have both the Z10 and the Q10 and I got the update on my Z10 last week but still am not getting it on my Q10. I haven't tried straight from BB yet but I would think Verizon would make it available just as they did with my Z10. Apps that I have wanted, like Bank of America with check depositing and Instagram, are now working on 10.2.1 and you can install the Android APK's right from the BB browser no more sideloading!!! You can either search for them or there are sites that are compiling lists already...you guys are going to love this update so many changes and cool features.
I have been scratching my shampooed head so much on this dilemna one would think I had a bad dandruff problem. So I spoke with a VzW customer service rep on the phone tonight (715p EST) who tried her best to find some information on the release but could find nothing about it.
I suppose it is a waiting game now. Until there is an official release I suppose one would have to use an unofficial version, which I am not fond of doing for myself since I come from the "if it ain't broke dont 'fix' it" school.
Other than being incapable of app beta-testing my device is suiting my purposes very well. Hopefully, though, by this time next week we BB-Q10ers are officially updated to 10.2.x. .
Cheers,
donl
The rep I spoke with from their tech section, not customer service section.
Thanks for the support. I didn't think I was the only one who couldn't
get the update to work. I tried all 3 options again with no success.
Frustrating....I can figure out why, but it is disheartening that BB can't
push the update themselves on their phones....off to fight another day.

There is no 10.2.1 update on any verizon customer I know. Yet, there are bb apps that require 10.2.1 to work. Verizon is WAY behind the curve (no pun) on this. Not impressive.
no they definitely released 10.2.1 for the Z10 because i am verizon and i have it on that phone from them i just don't have it on my q10 yet. i don't know why it is taking them so long to get it on that phone despite releasing it on the Z10 over a week ago! it is quite annoying i would like both of my phones to be updated because the new release is awesome!

How very condescending.
I agree. I had to bow out of my Q10 for now until the update is pouched
through. Sorry BB.
Verizon Sucks!!!! Why is there none of you clowns from VZ support able to answer this... pathetic...Wish I would have switched carries when I just updated my phone...
Word Salad reply. Verizon acts like they are sorry the BB didn't die. Just attempt to buy on at a Verizon store. Push back, push back, push back out of sales staff. Just update the OS and get it over with. I promise I would be bothering Verizon again. There are plenty of carriers that will take my $350 per month business plan. Verizon continues to give me a reason to leave.
And repetitive. See a few posts above. Parrots for moderators. Nice.
@ AArne,I totally understand your wanting to get the latest software on your device. I definitely don't want you regret joining VZW. Although I have no information as to the exact date when this update will be available, rest assured that once it becomes available it will be pushed to your phone. You can also visit http://vz.to/1bRygXv and check the latest software for your phone. JohnB_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Obviously, I am resting assured that I will get it as soon as Verizon tech support gets it to work on the system like every other carrier on the Planet already has done. Being about the last to get the update out for its Q10 users speaks volumes about Verizon's commitment to the BB platform. If Crackberry ranked carriers as to Commitment to BB, I wonder who would be less than Verizon?
VERIZON -- ARE YOU READING THESE? YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE BEYOND FRUSTRATED. WHAT IS GOING ON?? PLEASE SPARE US THE CORPORATE BS ANSWER AND EITHER HAVE SOMEONE WITH AUTHORITY AND KNOWLEDGE EXPLAIN WHY YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE NOT GETTING THE UPDATED OS, OR JUST GET THIS JOB DONE. WE ARE FEELING CHEATED, LIED TO AND SHORT-CHANGED. THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BRAND.
Everyone is going to remember the third rate support when Blackberry makes a prominent return. If we were inquiring about some crapple product you'd have an answer. If Sprint and T-mobile have the 10.2 update figured out, why is it so difficult for verizon?
well what doesn't make any sense is that they have had the 10.2 update out there for the Z10 since January so why is it taking so long to get it out there for the Q10!? i found it odd that it took so long to release the Q10 by BB after the Z10 as well. by the time they get out 10.2.1 for the Q10 the Z10 will be on like 10.3 or something!!
So I checked out the link you guys keep giving us " You can also visit http://vz.to/1bRygXv and check the latest software for your phone. " and I can't find any place that lists even the current operating system never mind any updates. The only thing in that area of info I can see talks about 10.0 coming in 2012 or 2013 (I don't remember which any more) so the link you keep giving us is pointless. Why you can't even give us any idea of why there is such a big delay between the release of the update for the Z10, which has apparently been released and the Q10 (the same basic system) is beyond me and seems like very poor customer service.
Hello gwynvt!I know you are anticipating this update! I'm sorry that I don't have a date to give you, but I can provide you with a link to our news center: news.vzw.com This page provides you with the latest information on updates and announcements. What a colossal display of corporate and personal incompetence.
I spent an hour and 23 minutes on the phone yesterday with both Verizon and Blackberry (about 66% of the time with VW and 33% with Blackberry... the remaining 1% was spent in prayer) and I am appalled (I don't use that term flippantly) at the gross incompetence of both of these companies. Deborah and Carl at VW both insisted there's been no release of 10.2 for the q10 and that I should call Blackberry to voice my concerns. Reny at Blackberry insisted that it indeed had (I tend to believe him) and unfortunately he was the last one I called so he got the brunt of my frustration. I opened a little clinic on business basics for him and explained, after he had admitted he's received dozens of these phone calls already, that, hey, he needs to tell his supervisor to tell his/her supervisor to tell his/her department manager to frantically call Verizon and get everyone on the same page. The onus, unfortunately, in on BB here - they're the ones hemorrhaging customers and you have, in the macro, a small amount of people, but in the micro, a huge amount of people who are totally adrift and out to sea concerning this important software update. John Chen has the time to have a twitter tickle pillow fight with the CEO of T-Mobile over an innocent attempt to improve his customer's user experience but when VW acts like they had a one night stand with BB when they were drunk once - and blushingly won't return their calls - he remains, as far as I know, silent. This is an "all hands on deck" situation. I, frankly, expect the bare minimum of customer service from VW - this comment chain is proof positive of their culture of lazy, disaffected, aloof style of service. I anxiously await some faceless acolyte's patronizing copying and pasting of the same tired "we understand you want the latest software" and here's the link to the latest news portion of our website dribble.
It's maddening and it's lazy and, I repeat, it's incompetent.
Verizon Wireless - A bloated, atrophied, arrogant and unimaginative company. I expect a timely resolution to this or, and I'm not just running my mouth, I'm going to switch companies. I may even do it today.
I tried that; using BB Link. Either it's blocked by verizon or simply connecting doesn't work. I have also rebooted the phone. From the following conversations it seems crappy verizon not releasing or blocking the updates. I would appreciate it if you would post any additional ways to circumvent verizon.
We, Verizon BlackBerry customers, need to do everything we can to make this unforgiveable sin EXPENSIVE for Verizon.
Leave Verizon. I already moved 7 of my 8 shared plan phones out of Verizon because I'm sick of overpaying a premium for a service that is not significantly better than much cheaper simpler competitors (such as Straight Talk).
Make sure when you call to cancel each phone one at a time that you are very clear that the primary reason you are switching and will never trust Verizon again is because of their gross negligence in releasing 10.2.1 for Q10 in a timely manner.
Call Verizon customer service every day and explain to them. BlackBerry has released 10.2.1 months ago. It's been released on all other carriers. Even Verizon has released it for the Z10. But not for the Q10. If they try to deny it, then have the official pages open and read it to them and tell them the exact URL's (or search terms). Ask what is the ETA. Why has no official ETA been released. When will an ETA be officially publicly announced. Explain this is important because Verizon users don't want to have to install leaks, and 10.2.1 has critical features such as Android app support. When they give you garbage answers, ask to speak to supervisor and explain the situation again.
Send Verizon emails and paper letters also explaining the situation.
Drive to Verizon offices and stage a picket sign protests! Go to twitter and facebook and blogs and spam the net and the news with this critical issue of Verizon negligence and incompetance and apathy!
Do not let Verizon get away with this!
I would encourage even non-Q10 users to do the same as this callous attitude towards software updates and customer service affects all Verizon customers. We need to push for Verizon to make a culture change, or to die and be replaced by other carriers.
I would encourage non-Verizon users, and even non cell phone users, to do the same as this is how we bring accountability to mega corporations like Verizon! Democrat style government regulations are corrupt and will not solve the problem and only cause additional problems. What we need is to bring the direct accountability through market forces and the voice of the people! Boycott Verizon and speak out against this grave evil! And may GOD have mercy on their souls, eternal damnation sayeth the lord. Now is the time to act!
Simple: Love the phone. Hate the carrier.
ssb752, we want to love everything about us! What can we do to reconcile our wireless relationship? Lasina_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Just spoke with Bridget at VW who put me on hold while she called Blackberry.
Her answer was a little flustered when she finally came back (a good solid 15 min wait) and she acknowledged that the Z10 had been given the update (which was more of an admission than I'd gotten from any previous VW employee) and when pressed she said "she imagined" that we can all expect the software "soon".
Maybe this is progress or maybe this is the same old end around. But let's hope that the right two people at our two companies finally spoke.
I am confused...why if other carriers have implemented 10.2.1 on the Q10 and BlackBerry officially states it is released, does VZ have to call anyone but their own leadership to get a simple answer...when is the release date??? What reason BlackBerry have not "giving" the updated version to VZ...he whole thing is such a joke...

I've actually thought about starting an action committee.
Create online petitions. Phone call lists. Email lists. Etc.
Collect donations to fund travel to Verizon headquarters for organized protests.
Look into hiring lawyers to bring class action lawsuits--even if they have no hope of going anywhere.
All this just to get a straight answer from Verizon. I would just switch carriers, but there are many places where I need Verizon's 4G LTE, and I'm not sure I'll get LTE with another company.
Anyway, if enough of you think this is a good idea, I'll start on a website for the action committee.
change.org/petition, ipetitions.com ... Now I don't normally recommend using the violence of government over something trivial like a cell phone carrier releasing an official software update... But this has gone too far. There is no more excusing Verizon's behavior. As Obama used to say - NOW IS THE TIME FOR HOPE AND CHANGE
I actually thank that is a GREAT idea @halfnibble.
What the post was supposed to say was "Want to do something to reconcile? Support all devices you take my money for with timely software updates, like the Q10. That's kinda the point here, isn't it?"
Well T-Mobile now has it.
