Help!!! Storm will not turn on

I purchased a new Storm less than two weeks ago.  I use my Blackberry to broadcast our local high school football games over the internet as well as the radio.  I had previously called in the games on my cell phone to the radio station and they put it on the radio.  I now stream them directly to the internet and the station downloads it for the radio.  Streaming directly provides a much better broadcast.

My problem is that my Blackberry will not turn on this morning and I have a game tonight.  I noticed that my battery life has been diminishing over the last few days.  I turned the phone off last night to charge.  The battery was almost dead when I plugged it up.  The phone would not turn on when I woke up this morning.  I have taken the battery out and put it back in, but it still will not turn on.

I have read the complaints about the Blackberry and the comparisons to the Iphone.  I have an Ipod Touch and my friend has an Iphone and I have been very impressed with their features.  My experience with the Ipod Touch led me to upgrade to an internet plan through Verizon.  I asked for a device that is comparable to the Iphone.  I must be honest and say that I am not very impressed so far.  When compared to the Iphone and Ipod Touch, I find the Blackberry browser to be lacking, my music seems to drag when played, my photos load much slower, and the number of available aps for the Blackerry does not even compare to the Iphone.  Now to top it all off, the entire unit will not even turn on!

Can anyone suggest something to save me a one hour trip to the Verizon store plus a one hour wait once I get there?

Still sounds like a battery problem. Plus have you ever cleared the memory? Make sure your battery is in a good wall socket? Sometimes and I have had this happen, I had the wrong charger plugged in to the wall thinking I was charging my Storm and it was charging nothing. I also have tripped the red GFI button in the wall socket rendering the wall socket dead. Just ideas.

I had it charging in the same wall socket that I use every time I charge the phone.  My wife's phone charged all night using the same outlet and had no problem.  We regularly use this outlet to charge our phones.  I'm sure it is not the outlet since I am unable to get the phone to charge or even turn on when using my car charger as well.

As far as clearing the memory goes, I dump my emails every day from my handset.  I never have more than one or two emails at a time saved on my handset.  I use very little memory on my phone.  I don't download videos or music from my phone.  I have not added any ringtones or other applications other than those that came with the phone.  The only thing I have added to the phone is a little less than 100 songs.  I really don't think I'm using that much memory on the phone.  However, if the memory that I am using is the problem, I can't even clear it since the phone will not turn on.

I would call to find the nearest Verizon store that has a Tech employed there, and then take it there. Must be a Verizon store not a Kiosk. They will tell you over the phone if they have a tech on staff. if they can't fix it they can exchange it.
