Is there a GPS Mapping app for the Blackberry Curve 8530?

I would love to have a GPS mapping app for my Verizon Blackberry 8530, but I keep reading that verizon blocks GPS data from 3rd party apps.  Is this true?  Is there a GPS mapping app that works with the 8530?  Do I need to get an iPhone instead?  Thanks!

Hi.  If I am understanding correctly, you want to have GPS for your blackberry?  If so, I will be happy to help you further.  Researching the application, I do see the Blackberry have several applications that has GPS.  You can go into the blackberry app market to search.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

Hi,

As Kimberly stated, several apps are available just by doing a search.  Obviously, the old saying, "you get what you pay for" applies to these apps.  The free ones are limited on functions, but one of the best free GPS apps is Google Maps.  If you are looking for a great app with turn-by-turn and voice functions, look at Verizon's VZNavigator or TeleNav.  Either of those programs will give superb function for finding your way.  Obviously the latter two will cost a low subscription service, but remember, if you want a good program for GPS, you might have to pay a few dollars a month.  You might also check out this list of GPS apps found at http://www.blackberryforums.com/gps-mapping/78646-review-blackberry-gps-software-alternatives.html  I hope this helps.

NAV4ALL was the best free app. Nokia shut them down in a rather underhanded move. If they ever get back on their feet go with them. Till then I don't know much about the options.
