Mute Button not working

I use to use my mute button to lock my Blackberry but since I reset my phone, the mute button doesn't work at all. HELP!!!!

As far as i know, the mutebutton on Top right of the Storm works only, if you have the Device locked (top left button).. if you push the mute button long with activated lock, it switches to vibrate-only.. and back. Without locking it does nothing

Doesn't work that way with mine... if I have music playing or something like that, I don't have to lock the device to mute it. Maybe the lock + mute is something specific for the ringtone?
