Problem with media card

Lindapta
Newbie
I just got a BlackBerry Curve yesterday.  At the store they transferred everything from my old phone to my new phone.  I recently turned it off and then back on and when I do it says, A media card has been inserted that contains errors.  To correct the errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer.  I have no idea what that means.  I took the card out and put it in my old phone and it works fine.  ANy suggestions?  Thanks~

Hello Lindapta,

Well, let's start with a question. Which device was the old one? Was it a Blackberry device as well? If not the formats may be different.

Yeah, I'm sorry Linda. That's what I was afraid of. The Blackberry is an entirely different format. You new device cannot interpret what was wrote on the SD card by another manufacture. I hope that is a good enough explanation. Don't get me wrong. That's not what I wanted to tell you. However, that's the bottom line. You new device should have come with a new SD card. That's the one I would use or the other alternative is to format that old card of yours in your new device. If you choose to format the old card, it will erase all data on that card.

Best of luck...

Let's see.

Open your options icon. Select memory, then highlight  at the media card where it say total space. At this point push your menu(Blackberry)button then you should see Format. Select this and you should begin to format the media card.

Good Luck.

Yeah Linda,

This will be easy....

Okay so you have your Blackberry connected to your computer. Go to My Computer and you should see to removable drives that are designated with a letter for the drive assignment. One of these will be that media card you just formatted. Once you recognize which of these drives is the media card, go back and find all your media that you saved to your computer, copy all of this then paste it in the drive that you formatted. Easy as 1,2,3...

Good Luck...

Regards, Michael

P.S. you can do that copy/paste routine for all of your media and it works both ways too. Take media from you handset and paste it to your computer. Great job on the Format.
