Hello everyone,
I have been sitting back reading all of the complaints about the Storm and I am puzzled?
I have had mine since mid December and have had very little issues with it. I can count on one hand how many times it has locked up and since the recent update, it hasn't failed at all. It's speed is fine, screen rotation is virtually immediate. One thing I would like to add. I have NEVER EVER downloaded any "leaked" updates!! If it's leaked it isn't authentic and therefor why risk it. I mean when the download tells you to try it at your own risk.......why would you do so.
Anyway, I have plenty of apps and would be willing to list them if needed, but no balogne!!!
I work in a shop environment and where the phone on my belt all day every day
I turn it off when I go to bed and charge it all night every night. That charge lasts me all day long.
Well I just wanted to add a Happy customer to the otherwise unhappy Storm forum
See ya

I have had my Storm for about 3 week. Very happy with it. Some times these things just get clitches in them and we need forums like this one for help. I have updated the Storm of a few friends and they are amazed how the problems dissapeard. I treat it like my computer. Update it., don't drop it, don't drop it in water. Little things. Lol.
Thanks

It's nice to read about happy Storm users! If you can please list the apps you've added maybe we can help those users who have had issues?
Thanks so much for taking the time to post positive comments!

Hi Michele. I have the Storm. On my last phone, when I got a call, and the number was programed into my phone the phone would announce who it was from. Example. " call from home". if the number was not programed in it would just announce the number that was calling. I guess like a verbal caller ID. Is there an app or anything that I can get on the Storm to provide this feature.
Thanks

Perfectly happy with my Storm but as I understand it with a 67% return rate it is a crapshoot on whether or not you get a good one at time of purchase. I got mine with a buddy during the buy 1 get 1 free deal back in April and he has problems with his screen sticking. Mine ran somewhat slow like everyone elses but that was the only issue. The .148 has made this a new phone and as far as I'm concerned, it's what the Storm should have been released with. Like someone else I can only count on 1 hand how many times it's froze even before the firmware update but I do believe good BB maintenance practices are vital to the phone running efficiently on a daily basis. What this means is CLOSING not escaping out of your applications and doing soft resets on a daily basis if possible a la QuickPull for a fresh phone.
My apps:
Weather Channel Link on my homepage<---way better than resource/batt hogging Berryweather/Weatherbug
Flashlight<---careful with this one, I think I'm gonna uninstall it as it's caused problems with my indicator LED
Shotgun
Whippoh
Storm Piano
USAA Mobile
GeoTipApp
CrackBerry Mobile App Store
BB App World
YouTube
Google Maps
Ace Email Viewer<---Don't waste your time or $$....slow to open email...slight bog down on the phone when in use.
QuickPull v2<---an absolute must for all BB users. Set it to reset itself in the a.m. before you get up for a fresh phone.
Slacker Radio<---My absolute favorite application.
4 of the 5 Messenger Services
If anyone has question, you can IM me and I'll be happy to share anything I know.

Hello,
I understand the function of the quickpull and downloaded it however I am not clear on "closing" out of apps instead of "escaping" out of apps. Do I have to hit menu then chose close app or is there a faster way like using hte red button?
thanks for your help!

Hey Ylloh, welcome to the forums. Closing is done by hitting your BB menu button and selecting "Close" from the menu. Escaping is simply hitting the back button to return to your home screen which leaves applications open and running in the background. This in turn sucks up valuable memory/resources and in some cases battery life depending on what type of application it is. Get in the habbit of closing out of everything and you'll have a better BB experience. Hope this helped.

The BlackBerry Storm has got to be the biggest **bleep** that Verizon has ever put out. I'm on my third, since November when they came out. It is so slow, locks up, drops calls, and god forbid you ever try and use the camera. Go to Crackberry.com and read all the complaints that have started from day one of the release.
I made a call to to Verizon and ask to cancel my plan, when asked why, I said it was to switch to an iPhone. Well you would have thought I had killed a baby kitten. After some pursuading, the rep said that she would switch out my Storm for the new Tour. I finally agreed, that I would give it a shot. Well, when my new Tour never showed up, I called back and was told it was never ordered. When I explained the situation, I was told there was no way they could exchange my Storm for a Tour. Of course no one would contact the original rep that had "promised" me the Tour.
So I will be calling back and cancelling ALL of my Verizon accounts. Maybe I will convince the 30K employees that work for my company that Verizon is not the "customer service" company that they try and make their selves out to be.

I'm sorry you have issues with your Storm, a lot of ppl do and a lot of ppl are perfectly happy with theirs. With all due respect though, last time I checked, just b/c you are unhappy with your current phone doesn't mean they owe you a brand new one? And if I'm not mistaken you had a trial period after you bought the phone to bring it back for something else if you were unhappy......I grow tired of hearing people complain about this phone, especially those who have purchased recently. If you are an early adopter that's just how it goes with a brand new product, but the people who purchased after the beginning of the year and didn't bother to do any research before they did and are now unhappy, that's your own fault. VZW doesn't owe you anything. I hope when the successor comes out VZW will offer some sort of incentive for early adopters, but if they don't oh well; I knew what I was getting into before I bought and fine with that.
The issues with the Storm are well established by now, all of us have had a crash, a freeze, or an instance (or many) where it did not function properly, but instead of complaining of these forums, why not read a few threads and offer some solutions and try to help other people.
Steps off soapbox.

"last time I checked, just b/c you are unhappy with your current phone doesn't mean they owe you a brand new one?"
Exactly where is that you checked this ? {keep it courteous} Take a step back and read this, and I'm sure you will agree with me.
What is an "early adopter" is that something that you plug into the wall or what??
{keep it courteous} I did return it. If you had actually READ my post you would see that I am on my 3rd phone.
I mistakenly thought this was a forum where people were allowed to voice their opinions, and not have to conform to what everyone else is saying.
Again the Storm is and always will be an inferior phone.

Oh and just FYI, the Verizon people must have read my post, and agreed with me. I received the shipping information last night after posting this, for my new Tour.
Well Played ????

When ever you buy something BRAND NEW that's never been on the market, never had more than it's first product cycle during the first few months you are an early adopter. Seeing as how you bought your first Storm the first month it came out makes you a big guinnea pig in working out bugs and flaws that the small amount of testers used prior to release were not able to find. Comes with the territory especially when a product is rushed to market. It's like anything else when it's brand new, it's flawed and has issues....you think Windows XP was the cream of the crop it is now when it came out? No, they had to release 2 of 3 svc packs before it was remotely stable enough to be called a decent operating system while MS pull their heads out of their collective arses with Vista. Thank gawd for Windows7.
The Storm is not an inferior phone, I happen to luv my Storm even if it does occasionally have a hiccup, my computer at home hiccups occasionally too, but that doesn't make it inferior or entitle me to a new one from Newegg. The Tour is not perfect either, there are people on this forum with issues about that handset as well but the non-touchscreen configuration is a tried and proven setup with BB unlike the new realm of touchscreen with the Storm. The second iteration is on its way to market already and supposed to be better with a different type of screen and a better OS v5.0. Now if they didn't listen to their customer base and the 2nd one has the same or worse issues than the first, then I would go ahead and say that it's inferior, but you cannot make a statement like that just b/c you're unhappy. It's inferior to you and that's fine; but a lot of people are happy with it.
I have nothing against you and hope you're not offended by my stating the obvious, I hope you'll come back and be a positive contributor here in regards to your Tour

"just because you lack judgment in phone choice doesn't mean they owe you a new one, "
I lack judgement? Didn't you also buy one ?
"If you go to a restaurant and eat a steak, leave, come back 2 more times for steak, and then decided later you didn't like em, do they owe you a another steak? "
Steak you consume...... phone you use, like a car. I'm sure you have heard ot the "Lemon Law".... same principle applies here.
"it came out makes you a big guinnea pig in working out bugs and flaws that the small amount of testers used prior to release were not able to find. Comes with the territory especially when a product is rushed to market"
I agree with you here... it was rushed to market. And they let US be the Beta Testers at our expense.
"I have nothing against you and hope you're not offended by my stating the obvious, I hope you'll come back and be a positive contributor here in regards to your Tour"
Stating the obvious ??? You are obviously very self-centered in your opinions..... so be it
