Signal problems/SMS error 7

I've been having a lot of trouble with my Curve lately. My phone constantly goes in and out of service when it's just sitting still. I'm not receiving phone calls or text messages, even when my phone says I have full service, and when I try to send a text, I frequently get the error "SMS error 7 - general problems". I've tried updating the firmware, and that didn't help. I try battery pulls, and I can typically send one text message, and then it goes back to it's problems. I don't know where to go on my phone to check how much memory I have left - I'm wondering if I'm out of memory and how to fix it, or if I should just say forget and get a new phone.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I do get my emails. Not phone calls or text messages or Facebooks notifications.

Hello alidombrowski,

I know making and receiving calls and text are some of  the main reasons for having a mobile device, so I will be glad to assist you.  Did this just begin?  Do you know anyone else that has VZW in your area that are having this problem as well?  It is different that your emails are coming through, but you can't receive calls or text.  I'm not sure what kind of Curve you have, but if it is the 8530 or the 9330 you can check the memory by going to Options>Memory>Free Space.  If you have the 8330 you can check by going to Settings>Options>Status>File Free.  You may want to try a factory reset on the device by going to Options>Security Options>Security Wipe>Check the first two check boxes (not memory card) and type the work blackberry in the desired box and select wipe to continue.  For the 8330 go to Options>Security Options>General Settings>Press your blackberry menu button and select Wipe Handheld and finish the same process as above from there.  Now please keep in mind that this process will erase everything from your device, so if desired save media to memory card and back up your contacts to Backup Assistance or you can back up your device with the Blackberry Desktop Manager on your pc and restore after reset.  Also, please remember you will have to reprogram the device after the reset by dialing *228 send and choosing option 1.  Please let me know if you choose to do this and if this helps.
