Text Message Visual Notification on BB Curve

Is there anyway to get a visual notification when I receive a text message?  I get the LED notification, but I would like to have my screen light up as well.  Currently, the screen stays black when a new message is received.  Is this a backlight option that needs to be changed or another option?

Hi just so you know someone is reading these, if you do not get a response that helps call the Verizon BB helpline. 800-922-0204 ask for or push whatever button gets you to tech support and then say Blackberry. You will be connected to a Verizon BB team tech who will know how to set what you want. If not they can connect you to a BB tech at BB but it must be during the week business hours I think. Oh, call from a different phone than your BB phone.

Hi,

I don't know of any way you can get a visual alert for SMS or MMS messages.  There may be one alternative.  Switch your theme to the Today theme.  That will show any messages in your message folder on your home screen.  It will also show a few future events in your calendar.  Go to Options>Themes>and BB Dimension Today and click on that.  That will change your theme.  You may not like the wallpaper, so you can always put your favorite picture as wallpaper.
