Very frustrated with my Storm

I am on my third Storm in less than a year. My phone has been locking itself, the screen flips when I am in the middle of using it and haven't turned the phone, it capitalizes letters in text messages by itself and adds random puncutation. Occasionally when I push the camera button on the side of the phone, voice dialing comes up. When I unlock it it freezes up and when I lock it, it will shift the screen sideways and show my wallpaper overlapping itself. I am fed up with it. I have attempted multiple battery pulls, wiped the device and reloaded all my information and updated my roaming because of reception issues and nothing has worked. I have taken it to a store multiple times and they do the same things I have already done. Now, when I call and tell them what is going on and request a different phone they tell me that they can send me the Storm or the Storm 2 but that's all they can do for me. I am fed up. I spend more money than I should have to each month on my plan and never use all my minutes and have been considering adding a new line of service and they can't do anything to help me? I am even willing to pay the difference between the phones but I can't get any help at all.... :smileymad:

I have been having the same problems I am on my 3rd storm as well. I was just at verizon last night because my battery would be fully charged and than less than an hour later it would be dead and I wouldn't even be using it. I asked the lady at verizon what if I keep having problems with this phone and she told me that they would do a hard reset and that if that didn't help than they would give me a new storm 2. Why do I want to just keep getting the same phone when they all seem to be having the same problems. I'm going to have to go up there again because my phone keeps freezing now. The storms are not worth it.

I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you all. Does either phone have the latest 5.0 software version downloaded? This download was a fix to the issues you are receiving. The instructions on how to check your software version are below.

From the main screen, press Send key, and if needed press Dial pad icon on screen to open numeric phone display. Press # 4357 *, press Send

Natavia the 5.0.0.328 has its own set of problems. The only 5.0 OS I know of that works well, but not perfect, is 5.0.0.419. It has one distinct advantage that you can set the touch screen keyboard to show you what button you are about to push which really helps when typing. Its called "Show Key Indicator" and is located under options, Screen/Keyboard. It's located under Portait View Keyboard which I have set at Full Keyboard.

i have the storm too. i've had it for a while n i'm super sick and frustrated with it but, like you, i'm stuck with it (and personally waiting till january till the iphone comes to verizon). i read somethings in your post that i also had problems with at first but i might have a few tips for you. not sure if you already know this but your storm locks automatically after like 10 minutes with out being used. again not sure of your curcumstances but maybe that is what you're referring to. i also had the same problem with the camera button but i went into my settings and made it a non active button when its presses unless i'm in camera mode. the screen thing happes ALL the time, sorry i can't help u there. best of luck with ur phone, i share your experience of frustration with the unreliability of the P.O.S... i mean storm

oh yeah and the capitol letter thing... If u hold the key for slightly longer it makes the letter capital and if you press the space bar twice it inserts a period. Again not sure if that's what your problem is but I thought you might find it helpful.

And do you know that if you lightly hold your finger over an unopened email for a few seconds, it will list all the emails from that sender, like these from Verizon's message board? Also if you install OS 5.0.0.419 and change the setting under Options, Screen / Keyboard, Show Key Indicator to Always when you hover over a key on the keyboard, it will show instantly infront of your finger what key you are about to push. This is not an option that will show in any other lower OS than .419.
