I have the voicemail icon on my Tour screen but I don't have any voicemails pending ! Its the cassette looking icon. What gives with the icon if I don't have any voicemails?

I have deleted ALL of my voicemails and yet the little cassette icon is still there - must be a software bug...

Are you sure that it is not the visual voicemail icon?

I'm pretty sure it's not my visual voicemail icon - I have no visual voicemail messages...

Try pulling the battery our for a minute and put it back in.  If all else fails reload the OS if it doesn't go away in a day or two.  Or maybe try calling RIM's tech support.

Make sure the two voicemails are not still showing in your messages folder.

I can't belive the owners manual does not show me what all the icons that can show at the top of the screen are for!

I am pretty sure my cassette icon is not for my visual voice mail but I am not 100% sure. If I could find the icon in the manual then I'd know for sure.

I would like to call RIM - what is their support website URL so I can get a phone number to call?

Thanks...

The cassette icon IS for voicemail. If you dont have visual voicemail setup then it wouldnt show anyway. Please look in your messages, this will hold voicemails, all your pop accounts, sms, and BBM messages. If its not cleared here also it will still show.

Yes, I checked my Messages icon which holds all my messages...it's empty.

I called Verizon tech support and they have no reference material telling them what the BB Tour icons are - unbelievable...it's difficult to determine what is causing an icon to appear when no one knows for sure what the icon is - everyone is guessing...

I have the same problem with my Tour. I went to www.crackberry.com for help and posted my question there (highly recommend this site for help!).

Here are the suggestions that they gave me:

Battery Pull (duh, who doesn't try this first?)

Leave yourself a voicemail and then go in and delete it

Wipe your phone and start over again

Note: They seem to think this is from installing the Visual Voicemail. I didn't have an icon on my phone that wouldn't go away until I activated the VVM.

I hope this helps!

The solution to this puzzle was to have verizon remove Visual Voice Mail from my account and then add it back on. When they removed it, the 'cassette' icon finally went away.

I had this issue and it was attributed to Visual Voice mail.

If I checked visual voice mail, and synced it, and it found a message, but I later erased that message through the conventional voice mail, the icon would remain.

I had to send myself a voicmail using another phone, and then delete that new voicemail, through the visual voice mail app, to get the icon to dissapear.
