Who do we need to be talking to have Verizon carry the Blackberry Passport?
It doesn't seem to be coming to Verizon Wireless.
Like Jay.M. said, it doesn't look like we're getting the Passport. Chen said it was an AT&T exclusive in the U.S. but he didn't say if that was forever. On the off chance that the exclusive is only for a period of time, I would suppose 6 months after it's released on AT&T we could see it on Verizon. But that's a big and shaky "IF". Right now it doesn't look like they're planning to make a CDMA version of the Passport at all. Nothing has going to the FCC in CDMA, and anyway it hasn't even been released by AT&T. Looks like we Verizon users will get the BlackBerry Classic instead of Passport.
To be honest, I was about to leave Verizon wireless because they're not carrying Blackberry passports -anytime soon if ever-, and as 47seijar stated, a CDMA version still appears to be the pending million dollar question -months after passports release! I'm the kind of guy looking for a NEW phone while not having to wait "several" months to get it AFTER its been released. After meticulous review of the NOTE 4, I decided to go with that instead of the passport. The Note 4 is simply the best phone I've had yet, and I haven't regretted it my decision. Good luck.
The Note 4 is defintiely the best phone Verizon offers right now.
Thank you for the recommendation. Years ago, I switched from a AT&T Palm Treo to an AT&T iPhone (first gen), then to a Verizon Blackberry Bold then to Verizon Android, then back to Verizon Blackberry 10. Say what you will... but my blackberry get it's it done! Looks like things do go full circle and I may end up back at AT&T and pick up a Passport. I think their service may have finally improved because it was horrible in 2004! :smileyhappy:
I call Verizon and they told me it will work and I have a z10 blackberry and it run on 4GLTE with and I will have to use a Verizon Sim Card. The Blackberry Passport only work with a Sim Card
All of Verizon's 4G phones require a SIM card. Any Verizon store should be able to set you up with one in about 5 minutes.
If the Passport doesn't have CDMA radios in them you won't be able to call or text. It does appear to support both band 4 and 13 for data.
47seijar, you're absolutely correct! Our corporate store locations can provide you with a sim card for your 4G device. Click http://vz.to/1h3etAK for the closest store location. LasinaH_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
I found out the other day Verizon will be getting the BlackBerry Passport his soon they go to the Volte and I call and talk with some one that do not work at Verizon. So do not jump ship everyone. Good things come to those who wait!! A soon the whole world will have to use Volte. And Verizon will have the best deal out there. If you can not wait try calling Blackberry to see if you can put in a special order so that you can use it on Verizon network.
Verizon can still carry the Passport. The Passport is not exclusive to AT&T In the U.S. Because a little Carrier called US Mobile also carries the Passport. The balls in your court Verizon to carry it early 2015.
Before Verizon can carry the Passport, BlackBerry has to make a CDMA version. So far nothing has reached the FCC for approval. At this point it's not up to Verizon. The ball is in BlackBerry's court.
I've been with Verizon since way back in the GTE days...yeah, that long. After three Android phonesin a row over the last 4 years and still displeased with the platform ( unit #3 is a Droid Turbo) it's three strikes and you're out, Android. Though attracted somewhat to the iPhone 6Plus, with enough sticktime on one I know I won't be satisfied with anything but a new BlackBerry (I formerly had a 8700g, & BB Curve 9320) I'm going back to BlackBerry, PERIOD...and I desire the Passport for my professional needs, and the Classic for my personal use. Why? I want a professional communication TOOL, not an overfeatured and underproductive toy. So either Verizon ultimately gets the Passport, or I will, though I hate to, go with AT&T.
True, Verizon has the Classic coming as per the BB website...but c'mon. Get the Passport, VERIZON. The report posted by Code90 is VERY encouraging, and I hope it's the truth. The lack of BB support at my local Verizon store is sickening. When I went in for a new phone there was not ONE BB displayed, and they only had a few Z10's when I asked if they had the Z30 in November 2014. Guess it's that way system-wide...another reason to look elsewhere, sad to say. Instead of Choosing what the Customer can choose from, Verizon; how about giving us REAL choices? Please don't tell me to look at your roster of fine phones- if it doesn't show a Classic and a Passport, I'm simply not interested, Verizon. What features am I looking for? Simply What Blackberry Offers. Ease of & quality, communication, A real Qwerty keyboard and BB security features are just the tip of the iceberg.
As far as we know, no one has been able to get a Passport to work in any way on Verizon, EVEN just for data. Yes we believe/are told it has the correct LTE radio, it just doesn't seem to work. Folks have tried. (I'm a Mod at CrackBerry I keep up with things )
