Wierd signal issue...

Have the Curve 8330. When I got it activated they had trouble getting the data to work at all. Finally got that working.
However, my signal in the top left of the screen is usually a 1X. But it only stays that way for an hour or 2 at a time. I will check the phone after a while and the signal will have changed to 1xev. When this happens I get no data at all. I can easily fix it by going to "manage connections" and turning the wireless network off then back on. But the same thing will happen in another hour or 2.
I thought I should be seeing 1XEV instead of 1X for the data to work but I may be mistaken because my data works with 1X.
It is not a signal issue because we have 2 other verizon blackberrys(Tours) in the house that work fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The first thing I would do would be sure the OS software on your Curve is up to date. The latest release from Verizon is 4.5.0.138. You can check this by going to Options>About. If it is not, you can go here for the latest download from Verizon and install it via Blackberry Desktop Manager. There is also a link for the latest Desktop software on that page too.

Thanks for the response.
I have re-registered in the host routing table several times. Still having the same issue. Have run the diagnostics test as well.
I have not re sent my service books. I know where to look at them in the option, advanced options but I don't know how to re-send them.
Thanks for the response.

When I click on the email settings icon it asks me to log in. I do and it lists my 3 emails that I have listed. There is no where I can find service books in there...
Thanks for the reply.

Ok, I re-sent the service books and still didn't solve the issue.
I guess I shall make another call to customer support. At least most of the reps are really nice and helpful on the phone...if only the store people were as good.
Thanks again for all the replies.

This is regarding a BB tour but a similar problem. Upon getting my device I began finishing my day in bed watching TV dealing with email and whatever rather than using one of the laptops. I began to get such weak signal that it wouldn't browse or play apps. Called tech 2 twice the following day to no avail. It wouldn't even make a phone call. Needless to say I was more than upset. I had restarted/rebooted it several times as tech requested, but later in the day after powering it down I removed the battery for about 30 seconds. For reasons unbeknownst to me my BB tour started operating better(I have 2 bars now instead of one in Metro-Schaumburg/Chicago-area). Unfortunately, according to the maps, I should have a full boat of signal.
Strangely, one of the reps asked me if I was using my devise indoors. I replied of course. He said those maps relate to signal strength outdoors, so if I was expecting that kind of signal I would have to go outside to use apps or just listen to music.
(I'll just chalk this one up to... Well, the man ran out of things to say.)
On a bright note, I just returned from central(very, very rural) Wisconsin. My BB rocked. Stock quotes... A few trades... All like clockwork. It's just maddening to have troubles in a major metro area. I'm still laughing about describing my frame construction home with vinyl siding. And yes my fiberglass shingles have a gravel-like substance adhered to the surface.
I guess the lack of signal is of my cause. I should had bought a different house 22 years ago... lol.

Somebody else already suggested this but have them check your device. My Storm had the exact same issue. I had full signal and showed a data connection but after a random period of time, any data connections would stop working and just hang. The rest of the phone worked fine but the data connections would hang trying to connect. When I stopped and started data services, as you did, all would work again for a time. Finally got tired of it and took it into a VZW store and was told it was a hardware issue and got a replacement on the spot.
