I just bought my tour and became a verizon customer, the problem im having is my phone keeps dropping signal from full 5 bars down to two and vise versa and then from 3 down to 0 bars in areas i know should have constant 4-5 bar service. This is all in areas where it is still alltel and hasnt swtiched over yet and i dont know if that may have something to do with it or not. Any help would be appreciated

I tried that the first day (yesterday) when I got it and it still didnt help. Its wierd cause i live in a really small ok town where service is always hit and miss to keep but the tour locks on usually and keeps 2 or 3 bars really well. But when i travel into a lot larger town in ks which is still on alltel, thats when the signal freaks out.

Ive tried *228 and even the the tech did sumn on their end and done it again and still the same, now its lookin like a back up and reload the software and try again. Just not wantin to send my phone back and be without for how ever long if its not necessary

I began having dropped calls on my blackberry 8830 last month after 2 years of problem free service. I began when Verizon switched their cell tower frequencies to accommodate Altel customers. It is a big problem. They don't have a solution.

make sure your network is set to 1evx not global as it comes out of the box then do a *228 option two

They will go ahead and send you a phone, so you won't be without one. Just be sure to return the faulty one in a timely manner!

only problem is that i purchased it through an independent online retailer and they will replace it up to 30 days as well but i think they want this one back before they will send out the other

I had had a Blakberry 8830 for more than 2 years and began experiencing problems with droped calls a month ago when Verison switched their cell towers frequencies to accomidate Altel users. My signal drops off to nothing in an area where I never had a problem.

yea ive tried setting that too and the *228 option, but nothing changes. Im now on my 2nd tour and the same thing. Verizon wants me to try a diff model blackberry because they say diff phones pick up diff signals from towers or some **bleep**. I think its all in the alltel switchover, thats where im havin all the trouble is in alltel areas still
