i had a message to validate my password so I could get my e-mail messages into my phone. I followed instructions and go to "setup" and continue to type in my user name and then the password and it continues to say "I can't leave my username blank" it says to "save" but all I see is "ok" and "log in". I can't get my e-mail messages on the phone.

Do you have the Blackberry Bold? (Assuming you do, since that's where you posted your question) If not, then what phone do you have?
For the Bold, go to Setup, email accounts, and for username, type in the entire email address you want to set up. Then enter the password, and click OK, or Save, or Login, whichever is available. what happens if you do all that? Where do you run into problems?

I follow all of the steps you outlined but it always comes back saying "I can't
leave the username blank" and I am not leaving it blank so I don't know what I
am doing wrong. Linda

Have you set up your vzw.blackberry.net account? That needs to be set up first, then you can set up other email accounts. I don't use that email address, but still had to set it up.
This may be helpful:

I have set it up and have been using it. It has done this before and the
salesperson at Verizon reset it but I don't know why it keeps happening and why
I can't reset it myself. Linda
