just got a storm for my b day

is it true you need to pay extra to have a storm on your bill my mom dident know about that and i might have to get rid of it

Hey welcome to the forums. Unfortunately it's true. RIM requires Verizon to charge it's customers an extra $30 for streaming email, unlimited internet, and messenger use on top of whatever you pay monthly for the line. I hope you get to keep it bud.

Actually, all Blackberry phones are required to have a "data plan" on it. Look at this way, the $29.99 charge is "unlimited." You email, web browse, chat all you want.

Check with your carrier. Text might be an additional charge over the $ 29.99

As I stated before, the $29.99 is for "unlimited Blackberry" which is unlimited data usage for the Storm ( email, web browser, chat). Text,pix, video are part of a different bundle, depending on what monthly plan you're on. If you have a job, maybe pay for data plan? good luck.
