using bbm and data outside of US

I have a verizon wireless blackberry tour with the $30 data plan. i live in CT.

i will be going to montreal in a couple of weeks...

What will it cost me to text my friends I am going with? (say we get separated). Would it be free if I BBM them?

Will I receive my emails while there? Will that cost me?

And same questions for Negril, Jamaica. Going there for spring break in a month.

Usually your phone would work overseas when it is updated through *228 and only if your phone has international capabilities. This can be found out through customer service. If your phone is updated properly before you leave your internet package should still work along with your text messages. Just to be sure double check with care to inquire if any roaming or international charges will apply for text messages and calls.
