5510L: No power ON indicator lamp, time-off timer.

Two things about my new 5510L have me mystified: There's no way to know by looking at it if it is ON or not. Sounds silly, but if I am making a presentation and depending upon the unit for 'Net access, I was able to see my old 2200's power/status LED from across the room. But no such indicator with the new 5510L.

Also, the unit shuts down after XX minutes of ... well, of what? Inactivity? Loss of connection to a device? What is the default time off period, and how can a user adjust that?

The MiFi 5510L has an automatic shutdown feature like all of the Novatel MiFi models.  The default is to power down the MiFi after 30 minutes of inactivity. The display also has a feature to turn off after 30 seconds.  All of these settings are configured by default with battery preservation in mind.  Feel free to modify them however you like.

To review these settings please see the MiFi 5510L User Guide on page 48:

To change the power settings:

1. Sign into the MiFi

2. Navigate to Jetpack Settings > Jetpack > Preferences

3. Configure the Automatic Shutdown feature

4. Configure the Turn of Display feature

5. Click Save Changes
