I would like to use my mobile broadband usb modem with my Kindle Fire. Does Verizon have software for the Kindle to allow this?
You will need the CTR35 to use with the Pantech UML290
You can get it from 3gstore
Or get a hotspot
Thanks for the reply. I have a cradlepoint ctr35 and it works fine with that. I was hoping that maybe the 290 could be plugged directly into the Kindle Fire.
Not going to happen.
USB modems needs connection software to be effective. VZW has not released any connection software/apps for the Kindle that I am aware of. Therefore, you need to use a WiFi signal if you want to connect your Kindle to the internet or any other network.
Another possible work around would be to purchase a MiFi 4620L or the older MiFi 2200 and use the USB tethering mode. No connection software is necessary if you use a MiFi.
Thanks John,
I was afraid that there was not going to be anything available. Looks like the MiFi device would be an option, but I think I will just stick with my Cradlepoint router and rely on hotspots for internet access away for home.
