Charged for spam text message to broadband modem

Verizon charged me for a spam text message (for "male enhancement" products) sent to my broadband modem's associated phone number. I don't want to purchase a text message plan because I only want to receive the free Verizon account status text messages. Is there an account option that will block text messages to my modem except for the Verizon account status text messages?

If you add a text message block to your 10 digit mobile number associated with your broadband card you will still receive text messages from Verizon Wireless; however, you will not be able to send/receive other text messages.

You can block text messaging and check your account status on-line.

The Verizon account that I have covers both my cell phone and my MiFi, and it seems that I can configure Internet Spam Blocking only for my cell phone.   If you do have the ability to configure Internet Spam Blocking on you broadband modem through your My Verizon account page, that will prevent delivery of texts sent from the Web or from e-mail, but I believe that to block texts sent from cell phones you need to call Verizon to have texting disabled.  With texting disabled, I don't know if you will be able to receive service-announcement texts from Verizon.

Please explain in detail precisely how this is done.  I need to block texting on 2 USB760s and cannot for the life of me determine how to do this.  Your reply above (to me) is ambiguous.

When I go into my account, it tells me I don't have access to text blocking.

This post states it's solved.  Not entirely!  We need directions on how to perform the "solution".

It was solved to the satisfaction of the OP, and that is why "he" marked it as so.

You can call CS (*611) and have them block it.

I cannot dial *611...I don't use a cell, I'm using a USB760.  So, how do I block texting (in detail, please)?

At the top of this webpage are some links. One of them says "Contact Us". Click on that.

On the page your browsers loads, you will see a "Contact Us" page.

You will see a section labeled "Phone Numbers".

Under "Phone Numbers" it has a contact for "Customer Service" which lists

"Dial *611 from your cell phone"

It also lists 800-922-0202 for those who can't call on a cell.

They should be able to block text messages to your broadband modem.
