Help....Switched from Westell Wirespeed modem to GT704WG..Static in phone line..
eddietowtruck
After I connected Actiontec modem..with help from verizon technician..we both heard static on phone line..When I turn modem off problem goes away. I can not dial out..I get recording to call repair service for assistance..Has anyone else had this problem...Verizon lineman believes the problem is the new router/modem. Inside lines are ok and he gave me new filters..I have had this problem for months..Probably too late to return modem to verizon, ..disgusted after they first sent me wrong modem and billed for both..long story, but I hate to deal with them again, so I instead I use my cell phone..also verizon, to make any calls and pay my verizon bill for internet access..Can anyone help?

You either have a defective modem or you setup your DSL incorrectly. Everything plugged into the phone line gets a micro-filter except for the DSL modem. This includes telephones, fax machines, alarm systems, credit card machines and computer modems. The micro-filters work in one direction only. Also they have 1 and 2 line versions of the micro-filter so make sure you have the right one. Also if you are using any splitters at the jack make sure you are using the right one because they are sold with different configurations.
