Issues with USB 760

I have had the verizon wireless USB 760 for over a year, and it has been working great.  Tonight when I went to log in, the verizon wireless device messenger said the devices was not inserted.  The device was plugged in, but the green light was not flashing.  There was no light flashing.  I have tried many different things to fix the problem, and yet they did not work. Some how my computer was not registering that the USB 760 device was inserted.  Does anybody know what the issue might be and how to fix it?

Now it is saying that the device malfunctioned.  Does this mean I need to get a new device?

Try these steps:


Try rebooting the PC.


Try using the USB device  in another port.  


Make sure security software is not blocking the port the device is using.  


  1. Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Managerwindow opens.
  2. Click to select your computer as the location for the scan.
  3. On the Actionmenu, click Scan for hardware changes.
