Is there a reason why one cannot get PIA (Private Internet Access) to work on a PC while connecting to the web via a Verizon Jetpack?
The last Network Connection that was used is still using the PIA configuration.
Open Network Connections
Right click a Connection and select Properties
If all the boxes are unchecked, hit Cancel, because this is not it, try the next Connection
Double click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP)"
The title of this applet should read "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) Properties"
Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS automatically should be selected, if they are not then enable them and click OK. Go through each Network Connection to make sure all are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
Do you mean the Windows (v.58 or higher) OpenVPN client software?
YES, you're doing something wrong!
Is your login and password right? Are you sure they're right?
Is the account active as in not expired?
Verizon may have issues with your server, try another one.
I was referring to the operating system I am using. The PIA version is 62. Yes, login and password is correct, as it logs in immediately and the red frog goes to the green frog. The account was setup 3 days ago. I am sorry, but I am not sure what you mean by trying another server. Could you explain?
If it turns green your account and login are correct. When Green, right click it in the notification area and select Disconnect. After it turns Red, right click it and you'll see the list of servers (by Region). Select any one to change the server and Connect using PIA -- the ones close to you are usually the fastest. Alternatively, scroll through the listing and select Settings where the Region (server) can be selected.
DNS Leak Protection may be problematic and changing the server (Region) may fix it. DNS Leak Protection enabled is the preferred setting, but disable it to test if PIA is not working.
Right click when Red and select Connect or a server to restart the VPN connection. If it still isn't working go to the website Support > Support Center > Submit A Request, after reviewing the FAQs to make sure your issue isn't in the FAQ.
Thank you for your help. I did what you suggested and tried various servers, but still have the problem. I get a green frog but when I seek to open a web page I eventually get the connection timed out error. Upon running a diagnostic I get three errors:
website www.microsoft.com is online but is not responding to connection attempts
the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken.
The default gateway is not available
I could not find anything on the FAQ page. Someone suggested checking for a VPN thru-put option in my Jetpack administration settings. I found nothing. I am at a loss at this point and stand to lose my $40 because I paid for the service with a gift card. I am not a happy camper.
