Network Extender Issues

I bought a Network Extender last week to help with the constant dropped calls I get within my house and have been having a pretty serious issue with it. The issue that I am having with mine is that I am able to recieve calls, but not make them with the extender. I've already had the extender replaced, however that did not fix it.

When I try to make a call while in the network extender area, the phone dials the number and never connects. After about 40 seconds of sitting on the dialing screen, a pop up window opens stating "The network is busy, please try again later." While the phone is attempting to dial, the network light on the extender does not flash or give any indication that a call is being made. This happens dialing #48, *228, as well as any normal phone number.

The recieve side of the extender seems to be working great. When recieving calls I get the beeps right when I answer like I should, and the call quality is great with no dropping of calls like I usually have without the extender.

The first thing I did was double check that the MAC address showing in My Verizon matched the one on the unit, which it did, and that I had listed my phone under the priority users. When that didn't work I did *228 option 1 and 2, which was no help either. Then I called tech support and working with tech support we have tried cycling power to the extender, router, and modem. Tried plugging the extender directly into the modem. I've also tried making calls with the data network disabled, rebooting the phone, and last night I even did a factory reflash of the phone to make sure no app I've installed was interfering with the connection to the extender. Nothing has worked.

If anything knows of anything that might get it to work, it would be greatly apreciated.

It's 10:36 PM EST here in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia and all lights are blue other than the system light. It's blinking solid red and has been for the past 6 hours. Tech support said problem would be resolved in 4 hours, about 5 hours ago. :smileysad:

ITS 10:15PM IN TAMPA, FL AND THE RED LIGHT ON MY EXTENDER IS STILL BLINKING! BEFORE I SIGNED ON TO THIS FORUM I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. YOU WOULD THINK THAT VERIZON WOULD AT LEAST BROADCAST AN EMAIL MESSAGE TO THE OWNERS--ALL OF WHICH HAVE AN ISP AND MOST LIKELY AN EMAIL ADDRESS! I WILL MONITOR THIS FORUM FROM NOW ON. THANKS USERS.

I woke up this morning to see that it's working again.  HOWEVER I was on a phone call and the sound cut out so no one could hear each other.  So I tried to call Tech Support using *611 and it won't go through.  It keeps saying call failed.  WONDERFUL.

Verizon, I'm getting sick of you!

My sys light is flashing AGAIN.   And I tried to call Tech Support but I lost the call during it and when they tried to call me back the call was lost again.  If I can't use Verizon at my house, they are going to lose my business and I really don't want to switch to AT&T but I may have no choice.

Sounds typically Verizon.

My brother in law worked for Verizon as a high level director for as long as I can remember until about a year ago when he retired. early  He told me that he could no longer accept the lousy customer service ethics that Verizon had adopetd - he would not give more details other than it just isn't the customer oriented company that it once was.

I have no hope - they charge us for services they do not provide, and sucker us into buying upgrades and service extenders (at our expense) that do not seem to help.

Under the extender with all blue lights, verizon router, env3 phone, no incoming calls, just voice mail. Turn off extender and can get incoming calls. Anyone having this problem?

Yep, I'm in Chicago, flashing red SYS light, been doing it on and off for the last couple days....  just wasted 30 minutes of my life listening to the crappy on hold music on my AT&T phone which works fine amazingly, gave up on actually talking to someone.

Anybody had any luck getting an answer as to what is going on?

Just to add another data point.  I bought a network extender last Monday.   Couldn't make it work.  Talked to tech service once and exchanged several emails.  None of the suggestions or those I found on-line or in the literature worked.(I tried putting the antenna both on the ceiling -- second story -- or in the window, north, unfortunately.)   Never got GPS acquistion.  I even had to buy a new DSL modem when I fried my old one trying to update the software in case that was the problem.  I'm in a western Minneapolis suburb with Qwest for DSL.  ISP is Onvoy -- static IP.  I tried taking it over to my son's (he has Comcast cable internet) and it sort  of worked -- got three blue lights, but sys light stayed red.   (or maybe it was blinking red.)  I've tried connecting it both via my router and directly to the DSL modem --  even with DMZ turned on.  No luck.   What is especially frustrating is that the lights aren't terribly helpful and there's no web or telnet interface to ask it what's going on.    The WAN light only shows the ethernet connection is good; nothing about the internet.  There doesn't seem to be anything to indicate it's successfully talking to the Verizon servers, so I have no idea whether my problem is the GPS signal, something in my connection (like something being blocked), or Verizon's network.    The only bright spot is they let me return it without paying the stocking fee.  I may try again when the new one comes out.

I have just recently got a Network Extender and it does not seem to be working correctly. I don't get dropped calls, but the audio drops in and out while on a call. I never had this problem before installing the Network Extender. I do get more bars of signal but that does no good if the audio is inconsistent.

Anybody else experienced this? or  have a solution?

I purchased my Network extender last summer and began having the problem reported by Hydroguy last week, i.e. the first week of March 2011.

Have any solutions been published?
