UMW190

I just purchased a UMW190 unit and would like to know if there is a longer USB cable that can be purchased so that I can position the device with a bit more flexibilty.

Hi Norky-

Don't fall for the $20+ cables.  In most cases they are no better than the ones you can get for 4 or 5 bucks.

Since the UMW190 draws nearly an amp under certain conditions, I would not try to go too far. I have successfully used a 6 foot extension plus the length of the "Y" cable that comes with the modem.

You can get reasonably-priced cables from eBay, Wal-mart, or Meritline.com, to mention a few.

If you need to go much further than that, you could always get a 3G router and locate the router AND the UMW190 at the point where you get the best signal.
