VZ Access Manager doesn't recognize USB727 on New MacBook Pro

I bought a new MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago and have been unable to get the VZ Access Manager program to recognize the device. The computer reports the device is connected in the System Profiler, but the VZ Access Manager report 'No Wireless Device Detected' during the configuration. The device works fine on my wife's MacBook and my Linux laptop.

The device is good, the hardware it's connecting to is good, but the Verizon software won't recognize the Verizon device (oh irony, how you frustrate me so!).

I contacted customer "service" - the lady I talked to assumed I was on a Windows computer and concluded that my USB ports are bad. When she found out that I'm using a Mac, she said she needed to transfer me, and then the call dropped.

I *need* a mobile connection for my job, and *must* get this resolved NOW.

Thanks, Grim - yes, I do have the proper software downloaded from vzam.net. I will attempt to call Verizon again in the morning.

FINALLY got someone at VZW on the phone that was helpful. She ended up sending me to a store to try out a different device. They tried a UM175 in my Mac and it connected instantly, so something about USB727 isn't compatible with the new MacBook Pro.

But now they want me to pay full price to replace the device that doesn't work.

Anyone know how to get out of the Verizon contract? I'm pretty much ready to switch to Sprint and get their MiFi.

I'll let you know if I can work it out. I bought a new Netbook and the USB727 won't work on it. Of course they want Verizon customers to buy their crappy Netbook so they made sure you'd have no choice if you wanted to use this device with one. I'm going to have to eat $110  to get out of the remainder of my contract. I've been okay with their service up until now, but there is no excuse to force a customer to buy their Netbook and I won't do it. They could make it work if they wanted to and I know I won't have any trouble finding another company that will be happy to have my business. I'll have to pay the $110 now, but I'm not going to stop pursuing this until I get every penny of it back.
